Boarding Fees
Boarding fees are all inclusive of accommodation, meals and House organised events/activities (refer Student House Handbook for full details): $19,300 An additional cost will be charged for students requiring supervised airport pickup/drop off and accommodation
during the student term breaks. Scholarships or subsidies: A number
of bursaries are awarded each year on grounds of financial need. Bursary applications are treated in confidence and allocation of funds depends on the number of applicants and funds available. There are several merit and criteria based scholarships offered to students. Applications for these scholarships are received as part of the Bursary applications process and are awarded at the discretion of the School’s director. There are generally two monetary, merit-based Awards for Excellence per year level for Levels 2–7. These year-level awards are announced at the end of each year and are credited to fees for the following year. The School also holds a Scholarship Awards event for external students with three supreme prizes of one year’s training.
Possible career options: The Australian Ballet School’s eight level programme aims to produce graduates of the highest calibre who are capable of integrating effortlessly into The Australian Ballet and top professional dance companies in Australia and around the world. Designed for Australian bodies and temperaments,
the training programme nurtures and encourages the special qualities of Australian dancers, which have been internationally recognised and acclaimed for many years. These qualities include youthful freshness, expressiveness and the joy of dancing; combined with athleticism, a natural dramatic ability, musicality and a strong technique.
The Australian Ballet School Training Programmeproduces dancers possessing
a strong classical technique with a great emphasis on artistry, purity of line, coordination and a quality of movement, which is free of any stylistic mannerisms.

Established in 1991 by Christine Walsh AM and Ricardo Ella, The Australian Conservatoire of Ballet is renowned for its strong professional ballet training.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) the ACB’s courses are nationally accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority. The ACB is also CRICOS registered to provide higher education
to International students.
From 2020 the ACB will transition its student training programs to the Melbourne Conservatoire of Ballet directed by John Sandurski with all staff, courses of study, facilities and performances remaining the same.

Specialised Coaching – After School/ Evening Training

Students may continue academic studies at a secondary school or by distance education.
Main subjects: Classical, pointe, repertoire, pas de deux, contemporary, boys coaching, cultural dance, performance, fitness and other related dance styles and industry practice. Practical dance classes per week: Classes range from 17 to 25 classes. Contact hours per day:
4 to 6 hours per day.
Pre-requisites/entry requirements:
Intermediate to advanced level of ballet technique including strong pointe work for all female auditionees.
Main teachers: Christine Walsh AM, Ricardo Ella, John Sandurski, Valmai Roberts, Stacey McCallum, Melanie Moravski-Dechnicz, Nickely Burke and international guest teachers throughout the year.
Audition date: Between September and November. Auditions during the year are arranged privately.
Audition requirements:
Entry to all courses is by audition consisting of a practical dance class and comprehensive interview.
A photograph in ballet attire and a medical certificate must be submitted
with an audition fee prior to the audition. Audition by video is also acceptable.
Fees: From $1,550 per term. Scholarships or subsidies: Students who possess exceptional talent may be offered a tuition scholarship.
Possible career options: Many of the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet graduates have been dancing in professional companies worldwide such as the Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theater, The Australian Ballet, Houston Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Royal New Zealand Ballet, West Australian Ballet, Norwegian National Ballet, Deutsche Oper-Berlin and many others. ACB is continuing to enjoy the recognition of its training in classical ballet by the international dance community.
