IAQ data drives energy efficiency toolkit
MANUFACTURER OF IAQ solutions for com- mercial buildings and homes, Airthings, has launched a new solution for HVAC professionals called the Energy Efficiency Toolkit.
The toolkit uses air quality data to balance health and energy-efficiency in any building, the dashboard feature provides customers with the data they need to identify unnecessary energy expenditure.
The HVAC industry can check out the new software feature in the Airthings for Business Dashboard.
Unnecessary heating and cooling is a massive source of wasted energy, especially in the hours when people are not present in buildings. In fact, buildings use 40 per cent of the world’s energy, and 30 per cent of that comes from
heating, ventilation, cooling and lighting. Airthings’ Energy Efficiency Toolkit helps cus- tomers significantly reduce energy waste on ventilation, cooling, heating and lighting by providing them with actionable data & insights that can point to when and where HVAC sys- tems are being overused.

analysing the aggregated air quality data gath- ered through Airthings’ award-winning wire- less sensors for every building in the customer’s portfolio.
Airthings CEO, Oyvind Birkenes, said cus- tomers that have used the solution over the past year have reduced energy costs, on average, by 20 per cent.
“Skyrocketing energy prices have a huge impact on the bottom line for businesses and building tenants everywhere. By expanding the energy-saving features in our commercial solu- tion, we’re empowering our customers to make informed decisions that generate financial sav- ings for their spaces and help them reach their goals - all while fostering a healthy indoor cli- mate for occupants,” he said.
AquaEdge now available with 515B
CARRIER HAS ANNOUNCED the availabil- ity of the lower global warming potential (GWP) 515B refrigerant in its award-winning AquaEdge 19MV oil-free water-cooled chiller.
Carrier Commercial HVAC, global product management director, Tom Franaszek, said the AquaEdge 19MV can take full advantage of cold condenser water, chilled water reset and other energy-saving practices to further improve building performance.
First introduced in late 2021, the AquaEdge 19MV is capable of maintaining performance in severe, extreme and unex- pected operational and
weather conditions.

“Select units provide balanced performance that is up to 10 per cent better than ASHRAE 90.1 2019 path B at both full and part loads,” he said.
“Combined with low-lift operation, quick restart times and low noise levels, the AquaEdge19MV is particularly well suited for 24/7 applications such as hospitals and data centres.
“From the beginning, we wanted to make it easier and more efficient for specifying engi- neers, contractors, building owners and facility managers,” Franaszek said.
“The 19MV’s compact 72 by 80-inch footprint on select models fit through double doors with- out disassembly. The movable, intelligent con- trol panel makes it easy to track and analyse operational data, and it can link to a building automation system for remote access to the chiller’s running data.”
To reduce unplanned downtime, Carrier’s
BluEdge service platform helps keep the 19MV running efficiently throughout its lifecycle with proactive solutions.
By leveraging Carrier’s proven EquiDrive two- stage back-to-back compressor technology with magnetic bearings, the AquaEdge 19MV pro- vides expanded operating range while improv- ing chiller energy efficiency and building resiliency.
