Smart approach to clean indoor air
LENNOX INDUSTRIES HAS launched the Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat and accessories, including the Smart Air Quality Monitor and Smart Room Sensor.
The Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat and accessories go beyond "smart" to ensure the most perfect air and peace of mind for home- owners by detecting air pollutants, customising comfort by room, providing maintenance reminders, service alerts, and more.
“THE MONITOR ENABLES ON DEMAND VENTILATION, PURIFICATION AND FILTRATION.”
Lennox Industries vice president and general manager, Quan Nguyen, said Lennox believe the air in your home should be personalised to your degree of perfection.
"The Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat controls a one-of-a-kind, fully communicating system that seamlessly and intelligently works together to stay tuned into your home and deliver con- sistently perfect, healthy air,” he said.
According to the "State of the Air" 2022 report from the American Lung Association, despite decades of progress on cleaning up sources of air pollution, more than 40 per cent of Americans—over 137 million people—are living in places with failing grades for unhealthy levels of particle pollution or ozone.
Combined with the almost two-thirds of homeowners that have pets and over one-third with household members with allergies, the demand for clean indoor air is more important than ever.

To combat poor quality air resulting from outdoor air pol- lution and other aller- gens, the Lennox Dave Lennox Signature Collection digital HVAC system, when paired with the S40 thermostat and the Smart Air Quality Monitor, has the exclusive ability to
detect air pollutants and trigger air cleaning on demand to ensure the healthiest air possible,” Nguyen said.
The Smart Air Quality Monitor detects and tracks particulates, carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds (TVOC's) inside the home. When poor quality air is detected, it triggers the system to circulate and clean the air to ensure the healthiest air possible. The monitor is the only one on the market that enables on-demand ventilation, purification and filtration based on real-time readings.
VRF with AI engine makes its debut at AHR Expo
LG ELECTRONICS (LG) showcased its new 2023 solutions at the AHR Expo last month.
Solutions included Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, higher energy-efficient heat pumps, indoor air quality solutions and flexible building automation and connectivity products.
One of the highlights of the HVAC booth is the LG Multi V i, an all-electric VRF cooling and heating solution equipped with the company's AI Engine.

The latest Multi V also boasts Edge comput- ing architecture, intelligent operation based on real-time weather conditions as well as remote software and firmware upgradability.
A next-generation VRF system, the Multi V i has a single refrigerant circuit that makes it pos- sible to connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor unit.
Additionally, it provides options that help maximise energy efficiency and minimise operational costs, and is suitable for a wide range of commercial applications.
Offering engineers and building owners out- standing flexibility in terms of performance and design, the Multi V i is available in capacities from 6 to 44 tonnes and can be used in single or dual-frame modular configurations.
LG's Inverter Scroll Heat Pump Chiller raises the standard for solutions in the air- cooled chiller category. The LG Inverter Scroll Heat Pump Chiller is designed for cool- ing and heating.
With an impressive integrated part load value
(IPLV)1 of 19.46, LG's chiller can be used in many sectors for many types of use scenarios, providing a reliable mechanical solution for both large- and small-capacity applications.
The Inverter Scroll Heat Pump Chiller's per- formance and versatility can be attributed to several key components, including LG's inverter technology, which enables a precise and effi- cient response to load demand and industry- leading low-ambient, high-efficiency heating. The modular design allows system engineers to install the chiller using a two- or four-pipe con- figuration to provide simultaneous cooling and heating functionality without sacrificing effi- ciency or performance.
The LG Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) is a commercial ventilation system that also delivers effective dehumidification, cooling and heating. Able to control the tem- perature and humidity of the air inside a build- ing or facility, DOAS comes equipped with a dual heat recovery system that minimises energy loss.
