Tribe Breweries has launched Australia’s first brewed isotonic non-alcoholic electrolyte drink under its better-for-you beverage brand Wilde.
Tribe said Wilde Isotonic tastes like beer but is more like a sports drink, and is pitched as an alternative to traditional electrolyte drinks. Being a naturally brewed beverage, it is absorbed much faster into the bloodstream, according to Tribe.
Head of innovation at Tribe, Roland Thiemann, said all the vitamins in Wilde Isotonic occur naturally in beer, including B1, B3, and B9.
“The challenge was to create a recipe that ensured these vitamins could be mixed with electrolytes in an optimal balance that would support athletes,” Thiemann said.
Wilde Isotonic also has more complex carbohydrates, 50 per cent less sugar than other standard sports drinks, and is vegan friendly. It has less than 90 calories per can and no preservatives.
Isotonic is brewed as a non-alcoholic Australian Pale Ale with full-bodied malt character and tropical passionfruit and pear aromas. It pours light golden with a crisp and refreshing finish, Tribe said.
Wilde Isotonic is now available to purchase in 4-packs at Dan Murphy’s nationally for RRP $15.99.
