Multi layers of corrosion protection
THE BALTIMORE AIRCOIL Company (BAC) recently showcased its TriArmor Corrosion Pro- tection System claiming it provides the best cor- rosion and leak protection for the cold water ba- sin at the best value.
For over 20 years, thousands of cooling towers, fluid coolers and condensers with the TriArmor System have withstood the harshest environ- ments, proving its durability and reliability.
This patented system designed specifically for evaporative cooling equipment for HVAC, Indus-
trial, and Refrigeration applications is now backed by an industry leading 10-year warranty.
The TriArmor System offers three layers of protection, starting with G-235 Galvanized Steel, the heaviest commercially-available galva- nized steel.
Universally recognised for its strength and du- rability, it offers excellent service life under nor- mal operating conditions, with proper mainte- nance and water treatment.
The second layer is a Thermosetting Hybrid

Polymer baked onto the galvanized steel to cre- ate a durable barrier.
This polymerized coating has been tested to withstand 6,000 hours in a five per cent salt spray without blistering, chipping, or losing adhesion.
The third layer, a Polyurethane Barrier, is a factory-applied, corrosion-resistant, impermea- ble coating that ensures a seamless basin.
To help ensure leak-free longevity, microscop- ic chains of rubber-like resin molecules perma- nently bond tightly with one another and the thermosetting hybrid polymer.
These three layers of protection form a bond for the ultimate in corrosion resistance and leak protection.
In addition to real-world testing over the past two decades, the TriArmor Corrosion Protection System has also been subjected to a series of rig- orous corrosion tests including an acid test (pH=4), an alkaline test (pH=11), a chloride level test, and a 5% salt spray test.
Basins also endured heavy impact testing. Re- markably, there were no penetrations left in ba- sins protected by the TriArmor System. These tests all conclusively demonstrate that the Tri- Armor System is superior to stainless steel.
Protection of the cold water basin is the easi- est way to extend the life of evaporative cooling equipment. As long as the basin is in good condi- tion, nearly every other part of the equipment can be repaired or replaced.
They also include many other critical to applica- tion features such as active condensate manage- ment, coated corrosion resistance condenser coils, and high flow evaporator fan.
Options for low ambient, integrated heater and Modbus connectivity will be soon availa- ble as well.
Established in 1954, Pfannenberg invented Filterfan which is used to manage the tempera- ture in electrical enclosures.
Ideal for high heat loads
MANUFACTURER OF THERMAL manage- ment technologies, Pfannenberg, has released updated 34X1C / DTS 36X1C Series Cooling Units, which offer superior capacity, more effi- cient design, and a robust build to ensure a long- er service life.
The new DTS 34X1C / DTS 36X1C Series Cool- ing Units are designed to take up less space while delivering greater cooling capacity.
These units boast the highest power to cool- ing ratio available on the market. The DTS 34X1C Units provide 1.5 tonne of cooling capacity, while the DTS 36X1C units provide up to two-tonne capacity at normal operation.
Both series are designed with the same dimension and mounting cutout, so they can be easily interchanged depending on cooling demand.
They are also backwards compatible with Pfannenberg’s older design (DTS 34X1 and DTS 36X1), making them a versatile option for enclo- sures cooling.
The electrical system of these cooling units has been updated to include a smaller and sim- pler power connecter, to reduce the protrusion of
the connecter into the cabinet, thus freeing up valuable real estate.
Other features include easy panel access and a front status LED display to help simplify mainte- nance or service interval. These cooling units were built on an “open design,” so critical components can be accessed easily for maintenance purposes.
“THE OPEN DESIGN ALLOWS FOR EASY ACCESS TO CRITICAL COMPONENTS.”
The refrigeration system is totally redesigned with longer and more robust service life in mind helping end-users focus on uptime to prevent disruption in operation. Both these units are ide- al for high heat loads, especially high horsepower drive enclosures.
They are available in different NEMA or UL Type rating – 12/3R/4/4X and different voltages.
