TEAM SABRE FORMS FOR LAND 125/4
SAFRAN, Nova Systems Australia & NZ and BAE Systems Australia have teamed to create Team SABRE (Soldier Augmen- tations and Battlefield Robotic Enablers) in response to the Commonwealth’s Land 125 Phase 4 Integrated Soldier System (ISS) project.
According to the team: “Team SABRE have collaborated to deliver an optimal sovereign ISS solution, which will benefit from global lessons learned and Austra- lian industry involvement, ensuring the current and future needs of the soldier are at the centre of the Australian Army’s modernisation program.”
“Safran has decades of experience in delivering soldier modernisation projects of similar complexity around the world, including the French Army’s FELIN and CENTURION programs,” Alexis de Pelle- port, Safran Pacific Chief Executive Offi- cer, said. “The SABRE solution will provide the Australian dismounted solider with a capability and decision- making edge over any adversary, now and into the future.”
Team SABRE says its response to Land 125 Phase 4 aims to enhance the ability to respond with new technology to rapidly changing threat environments, while reduc- ing the burden placed on modern soldiers.
“There is no off-the-shelf or turn-key solution to this challenging and complex project,” Steve Robinson, Nova Systems Chief Executive, said. “Nova Systems brings our considerable experience and know-how in delivering complex land pro- grams in Defence, and our credentials as a
100 per cent Australian owned and oper- ated company to the team.
“Importantly, the sovereign capabilities Nova Systems is growing through Team SABRE will remain in country and will support future ADF capability realisation across all domains.”

across the air, land and sea domains,” Brad Yelland, BAE Systems Australia Chief Technology Officer, said.
“As the land autonomy lead for the TAS- DCRC and in partnership with Australian Army on the M113 OCCV program, our skilled engineers and specialists will de- liver next-generation sovereign autonomy technology to Team SABRE.
“Our diverse range of autonomous tech- nologies also include highly advanced navi- gation, mapping, vision and safety systems.”
Team SABRE says it will offer ICN op- portunities and collaborate with Austra- lian SMEs, industry, research organisa- tions, Diggerworks and others.
The Land 125 Phase 4 project will deliv- er 14 varying capability elements in three tranches, the first stretching from 2019- 20 to 2022-23; the second from 2023-24 to 2026-27; and the third from 2027-28 to 2031-32.
