                 Data Centres
A GLOBAL PROVIDER OF LARGE ENTERPRISE DATA CENTRE SOLUTIONS, COLT DATA CENTRE SERVICES (COLT DCS), HAS OPENED JAPAN’S LARGEST DATA CENTRE WHICH IS PART OF THE COMPANY’S PLANS FOR FURTHER EXPANSION IN THE APAC REGION.
Cutting edge campus
supports APAC expansion
THE DATA CENTRE forms part of the Keihanna Science City, near Osaka, one of Japan's main centres for industry and research.
This site will meet the needs of Colt DCS' local and global customers who are look- ing to expand further in the APAC region and marks yet another progressive milestone in the
company's expansion strategy.
The design of the Osaka Keihanna data centre
further builds on Colt DCS' key learnings from their Inzai campus consisting of three data cen- tres with a combined capacity of 50MW which is 97 per cent occupied.
The latest opening in Osaka Keihanna repre- sents one of the largest data centres in Japan, with 42,000m2 of space and a designed capacity of 45.9MW, of which 75 per cent has already been committed.
From a technological and environmental per- spective, the Osaka Keihanna data centre incor- porates cutting-edge cooling techniques to minimise environmental impact for Colt DCS and its customers.
This is in line with the organisation’s wider ambition of achieving global net zero emissions by 2045, and the company's desire to be a driver for change in tackling global climate change issues.

Following early government technology investment, Japan is now one of the world's leading tech hubs and continues to grow at a vast pace. Osaka in particular has become a major centre for business and technology companies, driving enhanced data usage across the region.
The spike in technology investment has led Colt DCS' customers to enter into this region, particu- larly those looking to spread their mission-critical operations across multiple sites in the country.
The Osaka Keihanna data centre will provide carrier neutral connectivity services allowing cus- tomers to partner with their suppliers of choice.
Osaka Keihanna represents an attractive proposition, as it is located in an area which has very low risk of natural disasters, yet has great connectivity solutions, is easily accessible to customers, and diversely connected to all of the amenities which are necessary to running a fully operational data centre facility.
Colt DCS CEO, Niclas Sanfridsson, said the launch of Osaka Keihanna represents a major advancement in the company’s journey to address the needs of customers.
Colt Data Centre Services provide services in the sustainable design, build, delivery and operational management of hyperscale data centres across Europe and APAC.
The company provides solutions to hyper- scale and large enterprise customers across 14 state-of-the-art carrier neutral data centres spanning eight cities.
 Commercial grade virtual reality tool
VERTIV HAS RELEASED the Vertiv XRapp, a first of its kind tool that allows data centre operators to visualise products in the location they would occupy in any given facility.
The virtual representation helps today’s data centre decision-makers by providing a conveni- ent tool to plan their space and provide support after installation, with the intent of improving understanding of how the infrastructure will support their compute and impact the physical footprint. The app is available at the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
The introduction of the Vertiv XR app is the latest advance in Vertiv’s widespread and ongo- ing digitisation initiative, as the company contin- ues to focus on the customer experience and
expand the resources available to its customers. The Vertiv XR app is the first such tool to bring the kind of commercial-grade technology used for home remodelling projects to the data
centre space.
The app guides users through product selection
and placement, using augmented reality to deliver an immersive, realistic depiction of the product in the location of their choosing – whether that’s a data centre, office, lobby or living room.
It allows users to see and explore various Vertiv solutions when and where they choose, and stay engaged beyond purchase and instal- lation by viewing complementary solutions and by streamlining social sharing of their experi- ences with Vertiv.
