 Daikin acquires mission critical technology
DAIKIN APPLIED HAS acquired Alliance Air Products, a San Diego-based leader in custom air-handling equipment design and manufacturing.
Alliance Air's engineering and technology expertise adds to the Daikin portfolio of high-efficiency equipment and services for data centre cooling, and other mission- critical and custom applications.
Engineers, and building owners and oper- ators now have a single supplier for end-to- end HVAC solutions, enhancing time to delivery and productivity while lowering lifecycle costs.
Data centre construction, in particular, is expected to grow at a high rate through 2028 and beyond, accelerating the demand for cool- ing solutions with an emphasis on energy effi- ciency and sustainability.

The combined capabilities of Daikin and Alliance Air address these industry requirements, including chiller-to-computer room air-handler (CRAH) systems that help mitigate a data centre’s environmental impact. These sys-
tems provide an ideal balance of energy and water conservation.
Daikin Applied CEO and president, Jeff Drees, said Alliance Air has differentiated itself for its manufacturing acumen, creative designs, and nimble work and delivery.
"While this acquisition does, indeed, uniquely diversify and strengthen our portfolio, the true advantage is to our customers, especially those with hyper-scale and colocation data centres. The integration with the Alliance Air team will
be rapid and seamless so we can bring these ben- efits to our customers quickly,” he said.
Alliance Air's unparalleled precision and speed are enabled by its total wrap-around services that deliver comprehensive customer support — from engineering assistance to design, testing and field services. In addition to data centre cooling, the merged operations will serve an array of applications that require custom designs, such as hospitals, manufac- turing facilities and labs.
Alliance Air Products president and general manager, Luis Plascencia, who will continue in his current role, said customers need cost- effective, energy-efficient solutions that can evolve with their individual needs and larger industry trends.
"As the number one air-conditioning com- pany in the world, Daikin has the experience and know-how that will allow us to collectively scale with our customers,” he said.

World’s largest solar powered centre
DUBAI IS NOW home to the biggest solar powered data centre in the world according to Guinness World Records.
It was officially opened last week by the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed.
The Tier III data centre was built by Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions LLC), a fully-owned subsidiary of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).
Located in the Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, the carbon- neutral data centre will use 100 per cent renewable energy with a capacity exceeding 100 megawatts (MW).
According to a statement released by the Dubai Government Media Office, the initiative is part of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Emissions Strategy 2050.
The goal is to be net zero by 2050 and to reduce electricity and water demand by 30 per cent by 2030.

“We do this by developing innovative envi- ronment-friendly solutions that reduce car- bon emissions. The green data centre that Moro Hub implements will enable global hyper-scalers to access carbon-free comput- ing,” the statement said.
The new data cerntre will offer digital prod- ucts and services using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, such as cloud ser- vices, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
