NEXT YEAR IT COULD BE YOU
Would you like to see your business featured next year? Shops are selected for judging from the many nominations we receive. The judging team for best shop is editor Sam Street who has been judging for eight years and Neil Powell, former shop owner and head of panel and paint at Sydney TAFE. Powell has been judging the awards for nearly 20 years. Last year we brought Steve Lozenkovski from Bears Group onto the team to judge the best practice awards. Lozenkovski owned six repair shops but has since moved into the hail repair space and so is sufficiently ‘neutral’ but just as passionate about the industry.
The basic judging criteria for best shop is:
• Comfortable customer facilities • A clean, tidy reception
• Good signage
• Dedicated estimating space
• Clean toilets
• Investment in the latest repair technology • Organised equipment storage
• Organised parts area
• Robust training schedule for correct use of equipment to achieve repairs to manufacturers’ specifications
• Staff welfare
• A clean, healthy work environment
• Good OH&S procedure
• Staff training both technicians and admin • Acceptable staff facilities
• Green initiatives
• Solid recycling program including thinners • Extra credit for water recycling,
energy efficient equipment and other green
initiatives
• A website, online presence
• Efficient office organisation
• Customer satisfaction tracking

2020 BODYSHOP AWARDS
We are always looking to include and recognise shops who either haven’t won an award before or haven’t taken part in the awards previously. We know there are so many great shops out there that we haven’t visited yet. Industry recognition is good for business and raise your profile with work providers, OEMs and potential customers. Nominations will open in the first quarter of next year so if you meet the criteria, make sure you nominate your business. If you don’t think your business is quite there but excels in some other aspect covered by our best practice awards then you can just nominate your business for one of those awards.
