   Screen’s L350UV SAI
off to flying start
Following its successful release at Jet Technologies’ Sydney demonstration suite in April, two Australian customers will be running with Screen Truepress Jet L350UV SAI presses early in the new financial year.
A third will be operating a standard Screen L350UV.
Three new Screen Truepress Jet L350UV SAI presses are set for the Australian market, but we can't say where yet. “It’s too early
to reveal where they have gone,” says Screen Australia managing director Peter Scott, “but we should be able to make the full announcements before PacPrint in September.”
According to Scott, the SAI version of the L350UV has piqued the interest of serious label converters, here and globally, because of its “outstanding” rendition of colour.
He says, “Speed and uptime are also major factors, as they tend to be with all Screen-engineered equipment, but when printers and brand owners see the colour and ‘say hi to SAI’, their eyes pop as well as the colours.”
First UK L350 SAI site
One SAI installation Screen we can talk about is at Print-Leeds in the UK which ramped up one of the first seven-colour L350UV SAIs several months ago.
Print-Leeds owner Rod Fisher says: “Since it was installed, we’ve done numerous quality trials for different customers. Everybody
is happy with the vibrancy of the colours. On top of that, the SAI seven-colour is capable of achieving
a much wider range of Pantone colours thanks to its very wide colour gamut. Many beer labels have special colours, so we will be able to meet the growing demand of craft brewers and big brewers alike.”
As one of the largest beer wet- gum label printers in the UK – 200 million last year all printed UV litho – Print-Leeds has deployed the SAI for self adhesive short run work, with results so striking that Fisher has employed three more sales staff to cope with demand.
“With the new Screen machine
and the three additional sales people we’ve hired to bring in the work for it, we’ve established a fourth division, alongside our wet-glue labels, UV
litho and digital print,” he says. “The machine is already opening up new avenues for us, in other sectors such as cosmetics and the car industry.”
Global success
The first SAI customer in the world was Italian converter Grafiche Pradella in January. Marketing manager Nicole Ghilotti notes,
“The Truepress Jet L350UV
SAI printer stands out in speed, precision, and high label print quality. It also meets our customers’ demands for short runs and tight deadlines. Our customers are happy with the quality as well as quick delivery times. The machine is intuitive and easy to operate.”
“The SAI has captured the imagination of label printers where colour is critical.” — Peter Scott, managing director, Screen

Scott says: “Our first American SAI customer was Lion Labels, south of Boston, and another UK customer, Link Labels and Tapes, has printed 40 million Covid-related labels
on a five-colour, for the NHS. We now are approaching 200 L350UV installations worldwide, including the still current L350UV+ and low- migration ink models.”
“The SAI has really captured the imagination of label printers where colour is critical,” he says. “Add to that the speed of 60 metres-per- minute does not slow down when other colours are used. Quality has exceeded even our own expectations.”
Screen digital label presses are sold through Jet Technologies and supported by Screen factory-trained technicians. 21
