“Birdon’s work is project-based across the Defence, gov- ernment and commercial sectors, with key Birdon-Defence projects finalised during this reporting period,” a spokes- person said. “Birdon continues to engage with Defence projects.”
Another change to note is Varley moving from 34 to 24 thanks to its acquisition of Norship and a turnover increase of $25.8 million. “The acquisition of Norship has boosted our Defence related revenue and increased our business in the maritime domain,” a spokesperson said.
It’s also notable that all four major consulting companies – EY, KPMG, PwC, and Deloitte’s – have once again de-
clined to participate, despite the fact they’d likely rank high up in the list.
This year we also continued to report on the female workforce participation rate as well as whether companies have or are developing a Reconciliation Action Plan. More details can be found in the full Top 40 listings in the fol- lowing pages.
Thank you once again to all the companies that took the time to respond to this survey. We had a record number of submissions this year (split almost equally between primes and SMEs), showing a broad enthusiasm across industry for this annual snapshot. And this survey is exactly that – a numerical photograph of Australia’s defence industrial base, one that we look forward to taking again next year. ■
