5 top tips for branding with foils
FOILING and embellishing offer el- egant, eye-catching ways to en- hance your product and make it stand out in a crowded market, while also providing a sophisti- cated finish to your product packaging. Here are my five tips
to keep in mind if you are consider- ing foils or embossing as part of your next design.
1VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE Instead of a standard four-co- lour print, why not consider including a metallised foil for your next design? When it comes to printing labels, most brands use the customary three or four colour pricing tiers as their only option. Replacing a colour with a foil maintains the product identity and brand integrity, while elevating your designs and increasing the value perception of your brand.
2BE ADVENTUROUS WITH COLOUR When working with metal- lised colours, people instinc-
tively opt for silver or gold without giving a thought to other possibili- ties. But let’s face it, nobody likes an ice-cream store with only two flavours. Standard shades held in Australia include eight gold varia- tions, two silver, and six coloured metallics – all of which are dis- played in the latest Kurz shade selector. Don’t be afraid to explore the full range of eye-catching colours and hues to help your prod- uct stand out from the crowd. You will not be disappointed.
intricate structures, Kurz can provide you with nano-embossing. You will be amazed at the detailed gradients, matte finishes, image flips or even photographic effects nano- embossing brings to your designs.

widespread than you might think, and targets many industries includ- ing food and alcohol; cosmetics, nutraceuticals; and pharmaceuti- cals. From a security and anti- counterfeiting standpoint, one of today’s biggest trends is interactive packaging, and solutions like Kurz TrustConcept can play a key role in protecting your products with designs that are readily integrated into existing brand designs. Anti- counterfeiting functionality is an effective first step in protecting a brand’s reputation, and the right solution can help to track and trace the product through the supply chain, and empower customers to identify imitation goods. ■

USE STAMPING DIES TO CREATE QUALITY AND FEEL WITH TEXTURES
Foils are renowned for their versatil- ity. Once you have decided on colour, you can add texture and dimension to your foil designs. This is typically embossing. Embossing raises the image; however, with micro-embossing technology we can change the appearance of the foil to provide flat textures as well. If you’d like to experience some really
