of the $165 million Adelaide Airport terminal expansion project.
Johnson Controls was the chosen partner responsible for implementing the original Metasys BMS platform together with access control and CCTV systems at Adelaide Air- port in 2005, and the company has undertak- en ongoing maintenance for the dual terminal ever since.
The new Metasys 10.0, introduced to Aus- tralia in 2019, is designed to deliver more uni- fied building management functionality with smarter building automation, faster respons- es to critical alarms and new integrations with fire detection, security and lighting sys- tems – all with visibility from a single com- mon interface.
Johnson Controls said the system upgrade will be completed in 2020, well before the terminal expansion project is completed in 2021.
JOHNSON CONTROLS HAS been selected to provide the HVAC control system (BMS), ac- cess control and security management platform for the $165 million Adelaide Airport terminal expansion project.
To be completed by 2021, Adelaide Airport ser- vices just over eight million passengers per year, making it the fifth-largest domestic and sixth- largest international airport in the country.
In an Australian first, Johnson Controls will install the highly sophisticated aviation-specific CEM AC2000 Airport access control system, a fully integrated security management platform
together with the latest Metasys 10.0 building management system to Adelaide Airport and nearby Parafield Airport.
The expansion project will result in a longer terminal with more aircraft parking, additional boarding gates and shopping outlets.
It also includes a services upgrade to Parafield Airport, the premier general aviation and inter- national training airport.
As well as upgrading the existing BMS system and replacing the current access control plat- form, Johnson Controls will roll out new systems as part of the terminal expansion.
