Victaulic acquires Globe Fire Sprinkler
VICTAULIC HAS PURCHASED the 105 year old manufacturing company, Globe Fire Sprinkler, for an undisclosed sum.
These two century old companies com- bined, will have the resources and capabili- ties to bring exciting new solutions to the fire protection industry around the world.
Steven Worthington, who will continue to serve the combined organization as president, Globe Fire Protection said Vic- taulic brings additional financial resourc- es to Globe, enabling added focus on inno- vation to support customers and the industry.
Victaulic CEO, John F. Malloy, said the addition of Globe’s fire protection sprin- kler volume and engineering capabilities will provide the scale and skills necessary to be a true leader in all aspects of the fire protection industry.
Known as a mechanical pipe joining so- lutions company, Victaulic currently has a portfolio of more than
2,000 patented solutions for the build- ing and industrial construction industries. With more than 4,000 employees and 55 international facilities, Victaulic has cus-
tomers in more than 120 countries.
Globe Fire Sprinkler has been manufac-
turing sprinklers and valves for 105 years. The company developed the earliest le- ver-fulcrum dry pipe valve, and eventually became the first US company to utilize 5mm and 3mm Glass Bulbs in its commer-
cial and residential sprinklers.
Honeywell partners with Midea Group
HONEYWELL HAS ANNOUNCED A STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MIDEA GROUP TO REPLACE R-410A WITH SOLSTICE N41 (R-466A) IN HVAC APPLICATIONS, INCLUDING VARIABLE REFRIGERANT FLOW (VRF) AND CHILLER SYSTEMS.
R-466A is non- flammable replacement for R-410A.

HONEYWELL VICE PRESIDENT and gener- al manager of stationary refrigerants, Chris LaPietra, said R-466A is a non-flammable and lower global-warming-potential (GWP) refrig- erant for stationary air conditioning systems.
“We’ve partnered with the best-of-the-best in our industry to validate the performance of Solstice N41 as a breakthrough solution,” he said. “We are helping to solve for safety, energy efficiency and environmental sus- tainability with this solution, which offers a GWP that is 65 per cent lower than R-410A. Key partnerships like the one we have with Midea help ensure it is ready for broad indus- try adoption later this year.”
Once commercially available in late 2019, Solstice N41 will be the first non-flammable, reduced GWP R-410A replacement offered for stationary air conditioning systems. All other reduced-GWP alternatives proposed to date as R-410A replacements are flammable.
Midea Group general manager of the central air conditioning division, Mingli Tian, said Sol- stice N41 is a promising option to ensure its products are compliant with environmental reg- ulations in target markets.
“This cooperation will help us enter the new future with a sustainable and safe offering for end users,” Tian added.
When it comes to safety, Honeywell said Sol- stice N41 significantly reduces the need for ad- ditional design and eliminates the need to incor- porate the sensors and valves typically required for minimizing flammability risk.
“Early results also indicate this nonflam- mable, reduced global warming alternative to R-410A will eliminate the need for spe- cialized contractor training for flammabili- ty mitigation -- a big advantage for the in- dustry as it struggles to recruit and retain certified contractors,” the company said in a statement.
