  Schütz releases space-saving drum
Round and angular at the same time, the new SQ2 tight head drum from Schütz called ‘The Square’, is a space-saving logistics tool designed for easy handling, and offering more efficiency in logistics, safe application, and resource conservation.
Due to its square cross-section, a total of nine drums fit onto an Australian standard pallet. Depending on the drum size, the plastic drums are available in Australia with a volume of 100-110L – and up to 990L of filling product can be transported per bundle.
This is equivalent to up to 80 per cent larger transport volume compared to round drums, which are currently used in the agrichemical industry in Australia. The optimised utilisation of the available transport space results in a much higher efficiency.
The design of the new tight head drum allows for easy handling. The drum body is made of HDPE, which has an optimal resistance to chemicals and stress cracking and is also approved for dangerous goods. The drum can be equipped with an EVOH permeation barrier, if required.

   Nord launches toughest gear units
The full portfolio of MaxxDrive parallel and right-angle gear units from Nord Drivesystems offers high output torques from 15-282kNm across 11 sizes. The comprehensive configuration and mounting options of the Maxx-
Drive range allow for both standardised and tailor-made drive solutions. The combination of motor, gear unit, coupling and braking system, for example, results in precisely planned complete units that are supplied mounted on a motor swing base or a base frame. As an alternative, the motor attachment can be realised via an IEC/NEMA adapter.
A large variation of flange and output shaft versions ensures that the customer’s application is ideally matched. The entire drive system – from Nord electric motors to flange connections – is delivered as a ready-to- install unit.

     Cloud-based fresh produce labelling tool
A cloud-based printing tool to improve coding and labelling for fresh produce has been released by Matthews. The free iDSnet Cloud software generates and prints carton, crate and SSCC labels.
Matthews CEO Mark Dingley said the project began 18 months ago in collaboration with Woolworths Group Supply Chain and GS1 Australia. The group was looking at areas in the supply-chain for improvement and ways to resolve coding and labelling errors for fresh produce.
The result is based on Matthews’ non-proprietary software and has been through beta testing.
SSCC and GTIN barcoding into DCs is the number-one non-compliance issue today for the major retailers.
iDSnet Cloud has been specifically designed for fresh produce manufacturers supplying into Woolworths, with the retailer’s new tray and carton label format supported along with SSCC pallet labelling.
Under its beta launch, iDSnet Cloud has generated more than 160,000 labels online.
