 INTERPACK PREVIEW
                 Small-batch solutions
Multivac will be showcasing its packaging solutions for small and medium-sized batches as well as complete processing and packaging lines for the food industry.
on show is the R 105 MF thermoform- ing packaging machine, an entry-level model for packing a wide range of food products in MultiFresh vacuum skin packs. According to the company, this
enables maximum shelf life and “perfect” product pre- sentation even in
small batches. Multivac will also
display the T 255 tray- sealer, a space-saving, free-standing unit, which enables many different types of tray packing to be produced on the one machine in small and medium-sized batches, and the T 305, Multivac’s smallest fully automatic traysealer, which can be fully integrated into lines and can accommodate formats
from one to four tracks.
It is also possible to have paperboard
applications and MultiFresh trays with 50mm product protrusion.

MULTIVAC’S SMALL-BATCH SOLUTIONS allow hand-craft businesses and smaller processors to make the entry into automatic packaging – with maximum flexibility and cost-effective- ness, according to the company.
“This year we are very consciously putting our smaller and more com- pact models centre stage as well. They are very versatile in their use, as well as being cost-effective, efficient, very sustainable, and a resilient link in vir- tually every production process,” says
Dr Tobias Richter, director and CSO of the Multivac group.
The R 085 e-concept thermoform- ing packaging machine is designed for packing small batches very effi- ciently. This entry-level model can run sustainable materials as well as con- ventional flexible and rigid films, and requires only a small footprint, oper- ates purely on electricity and does not need compressed air or cooling water, the company says.

tailored to their specific requirements,” Grobe says.
The Nature MultiPack (NMP) machine will take centre stage at KHS’ show booth as an example of the com- pany’s range of packaging systems. Saving up to 90 per cent in materials, this has now been consistently further developed, with a new universal adhe- sive applicable to most outer coatings on both aluminium and tin cans.
KHS will be presenting its modu- lar automation systems for format changeovers during the packaging of beverage cans and PET bottles. With the new option for all KHS packers in the Advanced series and PB palletiser models, up to 80 per cent of all manual tasks required in conjunction with a line changeover are now superfluous.
The new Innopal PLR high-perfor- mance palletiser helps to further boost efficiency at the packaging and palle- tising end of a line. With the help of robots, this machine processes up to 625 layers per hour which amounts to a nominal capacity of 135,000 cans an hour depending on the can diameter.
The KHS Group will be presenting its holistic systems and solutions at Hall13 Stand A31. ■
THE KHS INNOPACK Kisters Nature MultiPack machine will be on show, demonstrating advanced developments such as a new univer- sal adhesive. The company will also be making use of independent calculator tools that assess the carbon footprint of various styles of packaging for visitors to consider. Further technologies such as robots for palletising operations and modular automation systems for format changeovers round off KHS’ collection
of exhibits at the show this year.
Dr. Johannes T. Grobe, CSO of KHS Group, emphasises just how important Interpack is for KHS. “This trade show has always been a key venue for the international packaging industry. It’s a driver of the transformation towards more environmental protection and efficient production processes. This is precisely where we come in with our holistic systems and solutions, advising our customers on suitable machinery
