MATCON SOLVES POWDER FLOW ISSUES
www.matconibc.com
THE original cone valve inventor, and renowned for its innovative intermediate bulk container (IBC) systems, Matcon has launched a new product to its range – the manual
cone valve (MCV).
This device has been
designed specifically to assist companies in the food, beverage and chemical sectors who experi- ence problems with butterfly valve or slide valve IBCs when handling free- flowing powders.
The manually operated MCV eas-
ily overcomes the issues of core flow, particle rolling and mix segregation
when handling mixes such as sugar-based drinks powders, 3-in-1 beverage mixes, salt- based food ingredients and washing powders.
A typical example of discharge time achieved when discharging 1000kg of salt from a 1000-litre IBC is only 90 seconds, and each unit comprises of a valve body with a single-sided arm that supports a cone valve, which is raised using a lever handle.
Depending on the desired flow rate of powder dis- charge, the lever can be locked in the open or closed positions, or any intermediate position.
The MCV can be easily retrofitted to any existing flanged IBC outlet, providing a cost-effective way of upgrading your entire IBC fleet with cone valve technology.
Each unit has a nominal internal diameter of 250mm and is designed to fit a vessel or process with the same outlet size for discharging free-flowing bulk material.
In applications involving sticky, cohesive powders or where automation is required, Matcon recom- mends using the classic Matcon IBC System.
Matcon will be showcasing the MCV at AUSPACK this year, so pop into its stand and take a closer look.
PERFECT Automation will be showcasing Omori technology
at AUSPACK. Omori recloseable packaging has enjoyed market success, enabling the deli meat and cheese sector to reduce its footprint and make a difference by moving away from classic thermo packaging.
According to the company, recloseable packaging reduces plastic footprint by 50 per cent and reduces food waste.
A new concept for flow packed minced meat has successfully been implemented by ProMessa, a supplier of fresh meat products to supermarkets in the Netherlands, achieving 70 per cent reduction in plastics with an Omori Flow Wrapper.
Apart from benefitting the environment, this style of packaging also allows for extended shelf-life, as well as the added bonus of reduced transportation load, in terms of both the packaging material and the packaged end products, meaning ProMessa has been able to reduce their overheads with transport movements, material costs, energy costs and running costs.
With Omori sealing technology, the flow packs are encased in a strong barrier protection film and allow for longer shelf life and reduced food wastage.
Built for agility and high speed performance, these flow wrappers are suitable for packaging unique or fragile products, wrapping multi- ple loose products without a tray and stick-shaped products.
Features include: accurate film control and minimised vibration; self- diagnostics for fast response and ease of operation; high quality and high speed wrapping; quiet operation and simple maintenance.
