Solotel Group announces ‘Plate for a Farmer’ campaign in support of drought relief
Hospitality group, Solotel, has launched its new ‘Plate for a Farmer’ initiative to help those in drought-stricken areas.
Diners are being encouraged to add an ‘empty plate’ to their order at any Solotel and Matt Moran restaurant or bar. And for every empty entree plate ($5) or main plate ($10), Solotel will match the ‘Plate for a Farmer’ contribution and donate all proceeds to Rural Aid to assist their drought-support programs.
Participating venues include Aria, Chiswick and Paddo Inn.
Coca-Cola celebrates 80 years in Australia
Coca-Cola, is commemorating 80 years since it was first produced in Australia.
Invented in 1886 by Dr. John Pemberton in Atlanta, USA, Coca- Cola began to arrive to Australian by ship in the early 1900s. With a strong local market, Australian production began in Waterloo, Sydney in 1938 incorporating a team of four trucks and 10 staff.
The Australian arm of the business has since grown to over 165 drinks and a network of 4,000 employees and 10,000 workers in the production and supply chain.
Chocolate chain Max Brenner collapses into voluntary administration
The once popular chocolate chain and dessert cafe, Max Brenner, has gone into voluntary administration due to rising costs and flagging retail trade.
There are 37 Max Brenner stores across Australia, which will all continue to trade until a review by administrators McGrathNicol is conducted.
Max Brenner was founded in 1996, and the Australian business is currently owned by husband and wife duo, Tom and Lilly Haikin.
R U OK? launches online mental health-awareness course
Suicide prevention charity, R U OK?, has released a free online course, dedicated to helping foodservice and hospitality workers navigate mental health issues and to look out for one another.
Developed in partnership with Allara Learning, the interactive, R U OK? online course help workers recognise the signs of someone who may be struggling. The new online short course also offers important tools and advice about how to figure out the best time and place to ask, “Are you okay?” and how to respond.
