A common goal
SEVERAL years ago I was an environmental journalist. It was a frustrating time of a lot of talking and not much action.
Fast forward to today and I hear stories of businesses from a global to local scale making real changes to their business for the benefit of the environment and indeed, their bottom line. It is exciting and reassuring, even when we all know there is so much more to do.
Our Environment Matters feature starts from page 18 with insights from the Save Food
Packaging Design Project. The section looks at food waste (page 20), Danone’s long game (page 22), and an explainer on why environmental risks need to be factored into business planning just like any other (page 24).
The poultry sector is known for being a closed shop, so Peter Bedwell’s industry primer is highly informative. Read from page 28.
Meat and Livestock Australia has partnered with forensic science specialist Oritain on a fascinating project in which the individual
“fingerprint” of meat can be verified at
any stage along the supply chain. That’s on page 31.
Olympian Dylan Alcott and two friends
saw a gap in the market – affordable,
healthy meal options for those on the
National Disability Insurance Scheme. The result is Able Foods, a range of products in accessible packaging including Braille stickers. Find out more on page 36.
And in our second ever Rear View, read Cordina Farms CEO Louise Cordina’s answers to our Fast Five on page 50.
Onward.
