state-of-the-art situational awareness and battle
management systems; and
• bridge the gap on the battlefield with the next-
generation tactical bridging.
Counter-UAS
Leonardo DRS currently supplies the U.S. Military with two air defence systems, the Mobile-Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aircraft Integrated Defeat System (M-LIDS), and the Maneuver Short Range Air Defence (M-SHORAD).
Tasked by the U.S. military to rapidly design, produce, and deliver a mobile air defence system that would meet the urgent needs on the battlefields, Leonardo DRS responded with the M-LIDS, purpose built to protect ground forces from various small to medium Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
The M-LIDS is a two-vehicle system: one that detects and tracks UAS threats using a combination of sensors, and the other that employs a variety of electronic and kinetic solutions, including a 30mm cannon and the Coyote small killer drone, to either jam the control signals of the UAS or kill it.
The M-SHORAD program is an Air Defence Artillery capability which moves and maneuvers to destroy, neutralize or deter larger low altitude aerial threats, including rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft. Integrated on U.S. Army’s Stryker vehicles, the M-SHORAD system moves with tactical units to detect, identify, track and defeat air threats. Using a combination of guns and missiles it is currently deployed to the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
See It All
Leonardo DRS’ Electro-Optical Infrared Systems (EOIS) business, is a long-time provider of weapon sights and thermal targeting systems for the U.S. Army. This includes the Family of Weapon Sights – Individual (FWS-I), Family of Weapon Sights-Crew Served (FWS-CS), and the long-range Improved Night / Day Observation Device (INOD), all of which are in- service with the US Military.
With tens of thousands of systems fielded and combat-proven, the FWS are known for their superior performance on the battlefield in night/day, degraded and poor weather conditions.
