FORTUNE DAIRY, ONE of India's emerging dairy companies, has built a new dairy process- ing plant near Pune which features an impres- sive refrigerant plant.
For this greenfield project, the company was looking for a reliable partner to deliver a compres- sor package that would provide more than just ex- ceptional performance for the refrigeration system.
This result has certainly been achieved in- cluding a 20 per cent reduction in total cost of ownership, a 15 to 20 per cent increase in energy efficiency, a halving of the maintenance interval, environmentally friendly cooling using ammo- nia and a compact design.
This result was achieved by solution provider GEA using Grasso M series compressors.
The GEA ammonia screw compressor pack- age with a high speed of 4500 rpm is an impor- tant part of the refrigeration system at Fortune Dairy's new plant.
Another plus is the maintenance interval: GEA recommends an overhaul at 50,000 operat- ing hours. Furthermore, there is a maximum oil carryover of five ppm. This also leads to reduced operating costs.
A key feature of the package is the Omni control panel.
BALTIMORE AIRCOIL (BAC) HAS ACQUIRED EUROCOIL SPA, AN ITALIAN MANUFACTURER OF FINNED COIL HEAT EXCHANGERS.
ESTABLISHED IN 1995, and based in Bovolo- ne, Eurocoil is a major supplier of finned coils, remote condensers and dry coolers to the Euro- pean refrigeration and air conditioning market.
According to BAC, the addition of Eurocoil in- creases its manufacturing capacity in the region, while adding additional heat exchanger capabili-
ties used for BAC’s existing evaporative hybrid and adiabatic cooling products.
In addition to its European headquarters and factory in Belgium, BAC has also had a factory in Italy since 1980. Baltimore Airfoil Italia is based in Chiuro, northeast of Milan and close to the border with Switzerland.
Baltimore Aircoil president Don Fetzer said the acquisition of Eurocoil and its previous invest- ment in Coil Design Corporation in North Amer- ica, positions BAC to accelerate the development of industry leading evaporative hybrid and adia- batic technologies.
“This investment will further our vision to re- invent cooling to sustain the world,” he said.

     Mitsubishi Electric CEO resigns
MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC CORPORATION
president & CEO, Takeshi Sugiyama, has an- nounced his resignation.
He made the announcement last week at a press conference in Tokyo, Japan.
In an official statement, Mitsubishi Electric said the resignation is in response to the find- ings from an internal investigation that re- vealed evidence of a long history of improper testing of railway air conditioning equipment and air compressors manufactured at Nagasaki Works in Japan.
Mitsubishi Electric confirmed that the safe- ty of the products had not been compromised
and that it will conduct an investigation to be led by an external lawyer with a report expect- ed in September.
“The improper testing is limited to railway air conditioning equipment and air compressors and does not involve any factories that manufacture residential and commercial air conditioning products,” the statement said.
“The New Intercity Fleet train project in New South Wales does not include Mitsubishi Electric air conditioning equipment or air compressors. Mitsubishi Electric Australia assures all custom- ers of our unwavering commitment to the quality of our products and services.” ✺
An investigation is underway with a report due in September.
