Remote support via QR code
Herma has developed a remote service solution in which a QR code replaces a direct data link.
WHEN label applicators aren’t functioning properly, a rapid response is essential. However, for security reasons, remote maintenance is not
always a popular option.
For this reason, Herma, whose
local agent is Result Group, has devel- oped a remote solution for diagnosing and resolving faults quickly and accurately, without requiring direct access to the applicator.
Built around automatically gen- erated QR codes, the procedure has been successfully trialled and is now a standard feature of the Herma 500.
If a fault occurs, then the user presses a button to generate a QR code,
which appears on the label applicator’s touchscreen. The encoded information com- prises around 300 current parameters of the applicator.
Theuserthenscansthecode with a smartphone or tablet, which then opens a webpage of the Herma Service Portal, with the encoded parameter data being automatically sent to the Herma system.
Herma service technicians
can now examine and inter-
pret the parameters on their screens practically in real-time. Undesired settings that are possibly selected by mistake, are generally identified immediately, and in any event the reason for a malfunction can quickly be pinpointed. ■
