 Proseal
Established in the UK in 1998, Proseal has become a world-leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality automatic tray sealing machines, con-
veyor systems and sealing tools predominantly for the food industry. Continued growth led to Proseal Australia opening their first factory in Williamstown in 2008 before moving to larger facilities in Tullamarine in 2014. Proseal fully supports the Australian market with local man- ufacturing of tooling and market leading after sales support to their machinery range, with satellite operations to provide regional, local- ised support.
The company supplies a range of specialist equipment from entry-level semi-automatic trays sealers for start-up business and new product development, to fully automatic inline tray sealers and turn-key integrated line solu- tions. These have the capabilities to seal a huge variety of packaging materials and prod- ucts, including ready meals, meat, fish, fresh fruit and desserts, at speeds in excess of 200 packs per minute.
Proseal’s continuing success is based on the company’s continuous investment in research and development, which has seen the introduction of models that have broken new ground in tray sealing technology.
Proseal’s continuing success is based on the company’s continuous investment in research and development.”
For example, its advanced sealing technol- ogy has been behind the move in the soft fruit sector from clamshell and clip-on lids to simple top sealed film for plastic punnets, reducing packaging materials by as much as 45 per cent.
More recently, Proseal has worked with tray manufacturers to develop a sealing system for a new generation of board-based MAP- capable food trays produced from sustainable cardboard that delivers optimal conservation of the packed product.
Last year, Proseal Australia won the pres- tigious Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association Award of Excellence
in the Customer Collaboration category. The accolade recognised Proseal Australia for working with customer Fresh Berry and pack- aging supplier CKF of Canada to deliver a home compostable punnet made from blended wood pulp. Proseal supplied the heat-sealing machine and tooling for the pack- aging solution.
Futureproofing remains a key element of all Proseal’s product development.
The company’s extensive range of tray seal- ers has the flexibility to switch between a wide variety of heat-sealing formats, including MAP, Vacuum MAP and Skin Packaging. Importantly, these options can be added or removed as required enabling food processors to meet changing packaging trends.
Another advanced feature is Proseal’s unique E-seal technology which produces an increased seal force of 200 per cent while achieving a 92 per cent reduction in energy usage. This deliv- ers valuable cost and sustainability benefits to food processors and ensures the excellent seal reliability that meets the stringent quality requirements of the food retail sector.
The company’s latest development is its advanced automated platform, ProVision, which is able to capture and analyse valuable machine data to help identify the causes of downtime and improve the efficiency and performance of the entire production line. This advanced Industry 4.0 platform can also be viewed on any web-enabled device, enabling Proseal’s service team to provide direct remote assistance to help customers optimise their performance levels and mini- mise downtime.
Proseal’s success and achievements were underlined in 2018 by winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade in recognition of its out- standing continuous growth encompassing the Australian market. The following year the com- pany became part of the Chicago-based JBT Corporation. This significantly enhanced Proseal’s global presence and has enabled the company to further expand its business through access to JBT’s global sales and ser- vice network, further enhancing customer sup- port overseas and helping to identify new mar- ket opportunities.
Proseal won the APPMA Award of Excellence for its work to deliver a compostable punnet.
