HP to show multiple wide format solutions
The HP stand will be packed with print solutions,
no less than eight wide format printers on display, including flatbed and roll-
to-roll systems.
The flatbed 2.5m-wide HP Latex
R2000 Plus, or the 1.64m-wide HP Latex R1000 Plus will be on the floor. The Plus printers are the upgraded version of the first latex flatbeds. They can handle rigid substrates including paper and plastic foamboard, PVC foam, corrugated board, acrylic, polycarbonate, compressed cardboard, honeycomb board, aluminium composite panel and wood.
Compatible roll substrates include PVC banner, self-adhesive vinyl, coated paper, polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyester, textiles and canvas.
The machines make use of HP’s
Latex White ink, which it says is a glossy, high-quality true white, which does not yellow over time.
The HP Latex 800W is a 1.63 wide printer that operates at 36sqm an hour. Its water-based inks mean no issues with solvents. The new HP Latex range consists of four devices
– the HP Latex 700 and 800, and the HP Latex 700W and 800W – which offer white ink capability for the first time in this category. The latter two will be on show at PacPrint.
HP claims it is the whitest white ink available on the market that does not yellow over time, enabling print businesses to produce neater outlines and add more contrast to darker supports.
Meanwhile, updated printheads possessing more nozzles allow the HP Latex 800 and 800W to offer 50 per cent higher productivity levels

HP will be bringing
eight systems to the show, including the new Latex 800 and 700
compared to previous HP models. HP says print jobs executed on
the new 700/800 Series will deliver with vivid colours and finer image and text details, even at faster print speeds. Operationally, HP PrintOS also enables printer businesses to monitor and control their print fleet using a cloud-based interface they can use virtually anywhere, anytime.
All four devices in the HP Latex 700 and 800 series use the HP Eco Carton – a cartridge made with cardboard material, reducing the amount of plastic used by 80 per cent. HP says its water-based inks are also kinder to the environment.
The HP stand will also have a Latex 335 P&C, a DesignJet Z9+DR 44” and a 64”, and the PWXL5200MFP (Angel) and PW10000Pro (Typhoon) with Autoloader and Stacker. 21
Kyocera bringing first inkjet cutsheet to exhibit
The Kyocera Taskalfa Pro 15000c will be demonstrated live on stand G32 at PacPrint, the first time a Kyocera production press has been at a show in Australia.
Kyocera has longstanding experience
in the creation of inkjet printhead technology providing inkjet heads to other major manufacturers for 10 years, but PacPrint marks the launch of its first production print device, the TASKalfa Pro 15000c, a cut-sheet inkjet solution.
It is built to produce up to one million A4 impressions a month, and the PacPrint Stand theme will be focused around this point.
The Taskalfa Pro 15000c runs at more than 150 A4 ppm, printing at 600 x 600 dpi, and can handle stocks from A6 to SRA3, envelopes such as DLX and C4.
It is available in multiple modular configuration options, and says Kyocera, fills a gap in the market for a cost- effective, full-colour printing solution for short-run, cut-sheet applications on uncoated stocks.
Ideal applications include short-run transactional print; for example, forms, direct mail, bills and statements, and small scale publishing runs; for example exams, and manuals.
Kyocera says it is an “ideal fit” for small to medium sized mailing houses and publishers —corporate entities, schools and universities, as a complimentary device to existing digital presses/production print environment, and for companies looking
to eliminate the need for overprinting of offset shells — enhancing productivity.
The company says it has low running costs, with the choice at of an ‘ink in’ or ‘ink out’ model allowing the job to be costed at either a standard price per impression, or a base rate plus the cost of ink.
Its low environmental impact is designed to minimise power consumption and deliver energy efficiency, through features such ink drying temperatures of only 65 degrees Celsius; 3.8KwH power consumption –
low energy usage that can also reduce
costs as there are no three-phase power requirements (plugs into a standard 10amp power point); it has several environmental certifications such as Energy Star, Epeat, RoHS and EcoMark. 21
