SNAKES CLIMBING NO SUGAR LADDER
Why eat one when you can eat the bag? Since launching in 2021, Australian start-up Funday Natural Sweets has launched a jelly snake with 85 per cent less sugar than others on the market.
Founder Daniel Kitay said consumers were confused by the nutritional information on some lolly packaging.
“Labels give the sugar content for ‘one serving’ – but a serving is only two jelly snakes. Who has the willpower to open a packet and only eat two?” Kitay said.
So Funday created a healthier jelly snake and made one serve equal a whole bag. The bag has 50 grams of jelly snakes with only 3.3 grams of sugar in total (85 per cent less than other jelly snakes on the market).
By the end of 2022, Funday is on target to be stocked in over 3000
block at Haigh’s Chocolates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and online.
stores across the country, including Woolworths, Ampol and Chemist Warehouse in Australia and New Zealand.

A MILK FOR WORKOUT RECOVERY
Backed by research with Monash University, Bega has launched Good Sport, a flavoured milk that can optimise exercise recovery compared to an electrolyte drink.
The commissioned research found that consuming chocolate milk in the hours after breaking a sweat, delivered benefits including better rehydration, better carbohydrate refuelling and better muscle protein repair, compared to other exercise recovery beverages.
Made from milk and a scientifically proven ratio of nutrients, Good Sport makes refuelling after a workout easy.
Bega’s Good Sport is available in chocolate and strawberry flavours in the flavoured milk fridges at select Coles and Woolworths stores, independent retailers and convenience stores nationally.
SENSORY MILL AWAKENS PLANT-BASED CONVENIENCE
Forbidden Foods has launched a range of long shelf-life plant- based meats through its Sensory Mill brand.
The products are dry and rehydratable, meaning they can be stored in an ambient environment on shelves and in pantries for up to 24 months, rather than the fridge.
The range includes plant-based minced pork, beef, and chicken, as well as a plant-based burger mix that requires consumers to add water and oil to make the final product.
Sensory Mill plant-based meats are available through Forbidden Foods’ ecommerce store.
