SCREEN L350UV+ STARS ON
JET TECHNOLOGIES STAND
The Screen L350UV+ inkjet label press starred on the Screen and Jet Technologies’ joint stand. The press on display featured the orange ink option, and the chill roller. Accord- ing to Jack Malki, director of Jet Technologies, the narrow-web press has a wealth of applications.
“Calling it just a label press is a disservice – it can do so much more,” said Malki.
Peter Scott, managing director of Screen GP Australia, said, “Printers were impressed with the quality, the sixty metres per minute produc- tivity, the fact that we can run different materials and widths.
“All packaging designers know that brilliant colours sell products off the shelves, while dull colours have less appeal. Screen’s new blue ink for the L350UV+ is a welcome addition to the range and I feel sure it will be a hit with label and packaging producers in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
ESKO CONNECTS PACKAGING
Esko demonstrated its new Packag- ing Connected philosophy, includ- ing a live display of the Kongsberg C24 cutting table.
The Packaging Connected motto is an evolution of Esko’s previous Packaging Simplified focus, says Scott Thompson, regional market- ing and channel manager at Esko.
“We have simplified a lot of our products, we had that goal of simpli- fication of packaging. We are now into the Connected theme.
“It is about how we are helping customers out of that reactive stage and forward into that intelligent and connected stage. We are speed- ing up processes, and enabling in- ternal and external communication between all stakeholders,” he said.
The Kongsberg C24 cutting table was a key attraction, showing how it is able to hook in to software solutions such as ArtiosCAD.

with label converters taking the op- portunity for a first look at the press. “The new look AccurioLabel 230 features enhanced productivity, offering an impressive speed of up to 23.4 metres per minute; job flexi- bility; ease of operation; and excellent image quality for short- to mid-vol- ume label applications,” said Sue Threlfo, general manager for pro- duction and industrial print, adding, “There is a lot of interest in this new digital label press, due to its impres-
sive speed and flexibility.”
The AccurioLabel 230 is also able
to run at speeds of 18.9m, 13.5m and 9.45m, selected to match the media used. Colours are processed at a reso- lution of 1,200dpi x 8 bit with 256 gradations expressed in one pixel. The three-dimensional hybrid struc- ture that incorporates functional polymers provides high performance for all media types, and no pre-coat- ing of media required.
EPSON SHOWS NEW
INKJET LABEL PRESS
For label converters, Epson’s new SurePress L-6534VW press was on display, superseding its successful L-6034VW. The entire press, from print heads and inks to LED pinning and curing lamp units, media feed- ing, and control system, is developed and manufactured by Epson.
According to Craig Heckenberg, general manager at Epson, the press represents a “whole new approach” to profitability.
He said, “The new Epson Sure- Press L-6534VW digital UV inkjet label press prints at speeds of up to 50 metres per minute for higher productivity while delivering precise quality with maximum reliability, flexibility and performance, and minimum downtime.”
The new competitively priced SurePress UV inks comply with the European framework Regulation ((EC) No. 1935/2004) on Food Con- tact Materials (FCM). The Sure- Press L-6534VW uses low migration CMYK inks with a high opacity white as standard and includes an innovative in-line digital varnish for value added label production.
