 Barambah Organics acquires five:am
Queensland-based Barambah Organics has acquired yoghurt business five:am from
PZ Cussons. Doris Prodanovic reports.
VICTORIA based yoghurt business five:am has been acquired by Barambah Organics. The brand will be added to Barambah’s growing artisan portfolio.
Barambah said five:am offered “complementary geographies, channels and brand differentiation” for the business.
Barambah Organics CEO Matthew Stanton said the team was excited to add five:am to its product range and was looking forward to realising the brand’s full potential.
Founded in 2010, five:am produces organic yoghurts made from 100 per cent natural ingredients and is free from pesticides and hormones. Its production is based in Carrum Downs, Victoria.
Stanton said Barambah plans to take five:am, “back to its roots, partnering with farmers in sustainable and regenerative practices, investing in product innovation and being a fun, accessible brand.
“We are continuing with five:am’s operations so there willbenointerruptionto
customers and intend to invest in brand re-invigoration and growth. We are wholly committed to continue investing in and growing both five:am and Barambah Organics.”
In October 2020, Tanarra Capital invested in Barambah Organics with its founders, who have continued to retain a significant shareholding in
the business.
Tanarra Capital investment director Tom Forde said the latest acquisition unlocks great capability and resources to help grow Barambah Organics in the organic and sustainable
dairy category.
“By placing the Barambah
Organics and five:am brands alongside each other, we are well positioned as the 100 per cent Australian-owned, leading organic dairy business in Australia,” said Forde.
In 2014, PZ Cussons acquired the five:am business from its founders. PZ Cussons ANZ managing director Rob Spence said Barambah Organics will be “an excellent home” for the futureoffive:am. ✷
