AUSTRALIAN cereal and snack manufacturer Carman’s has acquired snack brand Fruit Wise. It is the first acquisition for Carman’s, with founder Carolyn Creswell saying the deal stemmed from a phone call.
Creswell said, “My kids have loved Fruit Wise fruit straps for over 15 years. Given how much we all loved the product, I
decided to pick up the phone to see if there was any opportunity to work together.
“After a year
of discussions, our unparalleled similarities and outlook on healthy snacking helped us finalise what is now Carman’s first ever acquisition.”

DAIRY TECH BREAKTHROUGH
In a world first, Australian dairy tech company Naturo has developed a 100 per cent fresh and natural milk that is twice as digestible as other processed cows milk on the market.
AUSTRALIAN cultivated meat start-up Vow has opened the first of two planned facilities, with its first commercial product on track for launch by then end of the year.
Factory 1 can produce
30 tonnes of cultured meat a year, making it the largest plant in the Southern Hemisphere.
Plans for Factory 2 are well underway, with the first stage of production scheduled for H2FY24. It will be roughly
100 times the scale of Factory 1.
Founded in 2019 by Tim Noakesmith and George Peppou, Vow is built on their mission to “make better meat for meat lovers”.
After several successful production runs, the plant was officially opened by New South Wales treasure and energy minister Matt Kean.

George Peppou said the facility meant it was operating on a world leading scale in less than four years and with a fraction of the capital many cultivated meat companies have secured.
Some of Vow’s investors are Blackbird, Square Peg, Grok and Tenacious Ventures.
The plant is located with the company’s existing R&D facility, allowing NPD and commercial production all under one roof.
Vow has submitted its first product for regulatory approval, with its first product on track to launch in Singapore before then end of 2022. ✷
