EMERSON IS ADVANCING commercial air conditioning sustainability with its new Cope- land variable speed scroll compressor.
Green building guidelines and codes are fast advancing in many countries.
Australia’s $3.5 billion Climate Solutions Package to deliver on its 2030 Paris Agreement commitments aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26 to 28 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030. States and territories have also pledged to reach carbon neutrality by at least 2050 however this will require access to prod- ucts and systems that support this reduction of carbon emissions.
With building heating, ventilation and air- conditioning (HVAC) responsible for around 20 per cent of electricity use in Australia, the HVAC industry has an opportunity to dramatically re- duce energy use and contribute to national greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets.
In light of initiatives such as the CSIRO’s ‘Net Zero Energy HVAC’, Emerson has developed an integrated compressor technology solution that helps OEMs create commercial air-conditioning systems that enhance human health and protect the environment.
The new Copeland 110cc variable speed scroll compressor solution delivers up to 30 per cent re- duction in power consumption over convention- al fixed-speed technology.
Compatible with multiple refrigerants, includ- ing R32, an environmentally-responsible refrig- erant, Emerson’s integrated variable speed solu- tion helps enable air-conditioning OEMs to meet energy regulations and building owners to meet future commercial building trends without sac- rificing performance.

A tandem configuration of variable speed and fixed speed compressors provides OEMs with the flexibility to expand the range and strike the best balance of efficiency and cost.
