expected to grow from $US3.10 billion in 2020 to $US3.73 billion in 2021 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.3 per cent.
This is a market that saw exponential growth during the COVID-19 pandemic with the market set to reach $US7.73 billion in 2025 at a CAGR of 20 per cent, according to ResearchandMarkets.com.
The micro mobile data centre is a self-con- tained infrastructure solution that combines the storage, processing, and networking elements needed to operate indoor and outdoor opera- tions in a secure computing environment.
Micro mobile data centres are available in standardised prefabricated dimensions, allow- ing data centre owners to save both money and time when compared to the traditional way of erecting data centres.
For example, Vertiv has released the VRC-S which includes a rack power distribution system,

a UPS, monitoring sensors, and software. There’s up to 3.5kW of cooling which can ei- ther be fully integrated or linked to air condi-
tioners in the building.
The single-rack system, assembled in a facto-
ry, is ideal for Edge locations, like retail stores, healthcare, and light industrial sites, where fast- responding IT is needed. The system is available in various pre-built options which can be deliv- ered in days and take hours to install, Vertiv said.
The main types of rack units (RU) in the micro mobile data centre market are up to 20 RU, 20 RU to 40 RU, and above 40 RU.
The 25RU Cabinet is jam-packed with features that make rack equipment installation and ser- vicing a breeze. The different sizes of organisa- tions include small and medium-sized enterpris- es and large enterprises.
It is used in the instant data centre, remote of- fice and branch office, edge computing and is im- plemented in retail and e-commerce, education, BFSI, IT and telecommunication, healthcare, government and defence, energy and utilities.
While North America was the largest region in the micro mobile data centre market in 2020,
 accommodate this escalation in data.
