EDUCATION IN DANCE THEATRE ARTS INCORPORATED
(EDTA INCORPORATED)
History:
The Association for EDUCATION IN DANCE THEATRE ARTS Incorporated (EDTA Incorporated) is dedicated to the promotion of Dance and Theatre Arts in the Asia Pacific Rim. Uniquely Australian in origin, it offers children through to adults an all- encompassing training system, in which all Theatre Arts can be combined and studied.
Education in Dance and Theatre Arts was founded in 1974 and in 2003 the association was incorporated and registered as a not for profit association to allow further growth and artistic development. EDTA has new and exciting Syllabus in all facets, choreographed by talented and professional people, who are committed to continued development.

STYLES COVERED:
Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern Contemporary, Lyrical Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, European (Polish, Hungarian, Russian, Spanish and Highland), and Speech & Drama.
GRADING SYSTEM:
• Novice • Introductory • Grades 1-4 • Pre-Elementary • Elementary
• Associate Technique and Diploma, • Members Technique and Diploma, • Licentiate Technique and Diploma. In Associate and Members Technique students have the option to complete the
grade as either a student (performance based with strong technique) or a student teacher (knowledge and potential as a teacher)
MARKING AND ASSESSMENT:
The training incorporates precision and fine technique with the artistic finish demanded by professionals. Graded examinations from beginners to major levels, graduations and teaching qualifications are available in all facets. Students receive a certificate, report and medal for their participation and have the opportunity to apply for an “Award of Excellence” when three Honours or Distinction grades are achieved.
Examination grades range from Pass to Distinction and Assessment Grades from C to A+.
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
Teaching qualifications are available in all styles; Teachers must have attained Members Technique and Diploma to be a qualified Teacher. Associate Technique and Diploma are Assistant Teacher qualifications.
EDTA welcomes new members and recognises qualifications gained from other dance organisations. EDTA will transfer achievements from other societies for teachers to join as a member and participate in EDTA Examinations. The Association provides continuing opportunities for teachers through refresher courses and seminars.
COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS:
EDTA Classical Ballet Awards, Troupe/ Solo/Duo and Choreography Competitions, Speech and Drama Festivals.
PHILOSOPHY:
EDTA’s ideals are to raise the quality of teaching in Dance and Theatre Arts.
This requires a consistent attitude of self-improvement and professional integrity on the part of each member teacher. Composed of Dance and Drama Teachers, the Committee operates to promote, protect and advance the EDTA status and interests of dance and theatre arts, as well as encourage, foster and develop honorable practice.
