LES GRIFFITH TAP
DANCE ACADEMY (LGTDA)
TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
An annual registration fee is required to teach the Les Griffith Tap Dance Academy syllabus. Teachers hold either Student Teacher or Full Teacher qualifications. Teachers who join the organisation without completing these exams may become Affiliate Teachers.
COMPETITIONS AND AWARDS:
A seminar is held annually in Newcastle, and a competition for students of the syllabus is held following the seminar.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Directors Julie England and Donna Michalitsis travel extensively to teach and demonstrate the syllabus to interested teachers throughout Australia and overseas by request.
PHILOSOPHY:
The LGTDA syllabus aims to teach students a love of tap dance and an appreciation of its many intricate rhythms, and encourages students to strive to be the best they can be. The examination system enables students to reach a high standard, whether they wish to dance competitively or simply for the love of the art form. LGTDA focuses on technique, which is the basis of all tap dancing. It introduces the dancer to many intricate rhythms. All our examiners are experienced professional teachers who have been involved in dance for many years and who all manage their own Studios, so are very involved with children. Exams are relaxed & friendly, while aiming for the best from each dancer. For a list of Studios teaching LGTDA, or a Studio in your area, please contact Julie or Donna.
