STUCK ON SOLUTION STATEMENTS
ZUBI food labelling software speeds up NPD calculations and associated QA management for quicker time to market. It automates the process for label calculation and creation, for example, it can automatically generate allergen statements based on ingredients in recipe. The cloud- based solution is always online and accessible from any device. Calculations are locked in for low error rate and recipes are editable for quick updating, keeping them compliant. The result is a
reduction in recall risk with the ability to quickly report on what products have what ingredients in them. All ingredient and product data are in a single unified location providing a single source of truth.
In its latest update, Zubi has included a calculation function for reconstituted products. It offers a new way for manufacturers of food and drinks that must be reconstituted with water before consumption to calculate NIPs accurately, quickly, and securely.
“The new features will be of interest to companies that have dried products that are reconstituted, such as powdered drinks, where the nutrition info panel on the label needs to show values for the powder when it has water added and is ready-to-drink,” says Cathy McArdle, technical advisor to Zubi.
CUTTING THROUGH GREASE
HIGH performance oil-free and grease-free vertical pump bearings from Cut To Size Plastics are engineered for long wear life and high abrasion resistance, along with dry start-up capability, eliminating the need for pre-lubrication systems.
The low-friction elastomeric and thermoplastic range of Thordon bearings absorb impact or shock loads with a dampening capacity nearly 500 per cent greater than rubber and with abrasive wear rates far superior to brass and other traditional alternatives.
Cut To Size Plastics managing director Laurie Green says the self-lubricating bearings reduce abrasion and prevent wear.
“They also have a lower dry coefficient of friction, which improves efficiency in frequent stop-starts. Low friction bearings also operate longer, wear less and have reduced start-up torque and ‘stick-slip’, high temperature capabilities and improved chemical resistance,” Green said.
ThorPlas-Blue bearings can be used in water and chemicals up to 80°C while polymer grades operate up to 60°C.
ThorPlas-White is listed by the NSF International Certification and WRAS for NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Drinking Water System Components, as well as is classified as an accepted material by CFIA.
BLAST OFF WITH A NANO NOZZLE
EXAIR’S new VariBlast Precision Safety Air Gun with Nano Super Air Nozzle provides a focused blast of air to handle tough jobs with remarkable strength. This CE compliant lightweight air gun employs an engineered variable flow trigger able to produce variable force upon a target simply by pulling the trigger.
A convenient hanger loop as well as the comfortable full finger trigger are built-in to this 1⁄4” Safety Air Gun. The Nano Super Air Nozzle requires only 8.3 SCFM and is made of Type 316SS or PEEK thermoplastic.
Distributed by Compressed Air Australia, the VariBlast Precision Safety Air Gun is available with a standard, 12” (305mm) or 20” (508mm) extension which can also be outfitted with an impact resistant polycarbonate Chip Shield. The air gun body is made of high impact, glass reinforced nylon. The airflow that exits the nozzle can’t be blocked, assuring safe operation and meeting required OSHA standards 1910.242(b). This VariBlast Precision air gun produces a quiet 75 dBA noise level which is well below the limits of the OSHA noise exposure standard 29 CFR 1910.95(a).
INDUSTRY 4.0
CONNECTIONS LAPPED
SINGLE-PAIR Ethernet (SPE) is a key technology in the advancement of the Smart Factory and Industry 4.0. It enables more consistent and more efficient industrial Ethernet networks and only needs one pair of cores to transmit data. Previously, 2- and 4-pair Ethernet cables have been the standard.
By shifting to
single pair
cables, the
time and
material
saving enables
new smart components to
be integrated into the network, which were previously not networked via industrial Ethernet.
LAPP Australia general manager Simon Pullinger says LAPP’s single-pair Ethernet cable joins more than 20,000 products available directly online from LAPP Australia, including the new Etherline T1 Y Flex 1x2x22/7 AWG.
“These cables maintain the same high data rates as previous technology, while significantly reducing the setup required. The UL-certified two-core cable for high-speed information exchange has a small bending radius and outer diameter, is exceptionally lightweight and is indispensable for connection at the field level,” Pullinger says.
The new cables are ideal for a broad range of Industry 4.0 applications, including manufacturing, electrical connection, power generation and factory automation.
