KONGSBERG CHOOSES MILSPEC FOR NASAMS MECHANICAL FIXTURES
KONGSBERG Defence Australia has chosen Albury-based MILSPEC Manufacturing to supply mechanical fixtures for compo- nents for sub-systems within the Austra- lian National Advanced Surface to Air Missile System (NASAMS) program being delivered under Project Land 19 Phase 7B.
Kongsberg, in partnership with Raytheon Australia, will deliver a NASAMS capability for the Australian Army, providing a beyond- visual-range Ground Based Air Defence ca- pability to defeat aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missile threats.
MILSPEC will supply mechanical fix- tures for the Fire Distribution Centres and NASAMS Classroom Trainers.
MILSPEC joins other Australian sup- pliers including Daronmont Technologies, Eylex and REDARC on the program.
“MILSPEC is a terrific example of a successful Australian business that Kongsberg is proud to partner with to de- liver some key components for NASAMS sub systems,” Kongsberg Defence Austra- lia General Manager John Fry said.
Kongsberg Defence Australia Supply Chain Manager, Sally Dunbar, said MIL- SPEC has proven themselves as leaders in the industry.

THE US Department of Defense has ap- proved a contract for Lockheed Martin to support Australian and Danish MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.
The US$13 million contract includes in- vestigations, systems engineering support, risk analysis, integration development,
weight impact, publication updates, main- tenance, training, tooling updates and qualification testing. The work will take place in New York state and is expected to wrap up in March 2024.
The MH-60R is equipped with Hell- fire air-to-surface missiles and the Mark
54 anti-submarine torpedo for anti-sub- marine warfare and anti-surface warfare. Secondary missions include search and rescue, logistics support, personnel trans- port and medical evacuation.
Final production work on the integra- tion of the MH60-R helicopter onto final AWD NUSHIP Sydney included modify- ing the storage of Mk54 torpedoes and AGM-114N Hellfire missiles as part of the construction process rather than after its completion. This allowed for the ships’ ac- ceptance several months earlier than pre- viously scheduled.

“Since MILSPEC commenced opera- tions in 2002, they have proven them- selves as a world-class provider of CNC machining, CNC sheet metal fabrication and welding, integration, assembly and testing of military products,” Dunbar said.
MILSPEC are now part of Kongsberg’s glob- al supply chain, which is set to provide oppor-
tunities both in Australia and internationally. Kongsberg Defence Australia will as- semble and conduct sub-system level in- tegration of the Fire Distribution Centre and NASAMS Classroom Trainers in Ad- elaide. The company will also conduct fi- nal assembly of the canister launchers and
support integration activities.
