OKI PRO 1050
OKI was planning to show three Pro1050s at Labelexpo, with different applications running on each. It had the new Pro 1050 CMYK + white label printer as the centrepiece, the new system aimed at the burgeoning craft food and beverage markets.
The company also planned to have rewinder, cutter/laminator and applicator machines on the stand as well to demonstrate the end to end solution. In Australia the LED printers are available through distributors including Labelpower, Inkdustrial and Gulmen Engineering.
Oki says it has developed the Pro 1040 and Pro 1050 narrow-format label printers specifically for the growing market of users who need on-demand label printing that is easy to set up and requires minimal training to use.
The printers provide the ability to print on a wide range of materials in professional four or five-colour finishes. The Pro1040 prints in CMYK, whilst the Pro1050 prints in CMYK plus white (CMYK+W).
With the white toner, users have the added advantage of printing on transparent or coloured label media – this is done by printing an opaque white background under the
CMYK image.
The printers are able to print on a variety of roll widths onto standard stocks. Because they are LED, there are few moving parts. They print onto standard label materials, including synthetics.
SCREEN TRUEPRESS JET
Screen, meanwhile, continues to build on the success of its Truepress Jet UV platform, and at Labelexpo was going to show both the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI E and the Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S.
The Truepress Jet L350UV SAI S 42 MARCH/APRIL 2022
can be equipped with up to seven colours (CMYK +orange + blue +white) and prints at speeds up to 60mpm. Screen was promising new features for the press at Labelexpo.
Screen says that the machine can print on media widths of up to 350mm wide. Using white ink, the company maintains that it is still able to achieve 50 metres
per minute.
The Truepress Jet L350UV SAI E
is now Screen’s entry model, and can be equipped with up to six colours (CMYK +orange +white,) and optionally configured to print at speeds up to 60m/min.
The company says even original seven-year old models are still in production, and in demand as used machines.
Screen has also been developing its latest workflow, Label Workflow for Industry 4.0.
Digital opportunities: From toe in the water OKI (top) to high productivity Screen (above) and Xeikon (below) digital technology offers something for everyone
XEIKON CX500
Xeikon says its quest is to support label printers and converters
on their pathway to digital transformation.
Its 520mm wide-web CX500 digital label press runs at printing
at speeds of up to 30m/min with a resolution of 1200dpi. According
to Xeikon the CX500 print width
and print speed radically extends the types of applications possible. This full rotary digital label press is based on Xeikon’s proprietary dry toner technology. Using the same diecut, and with the ability to fit more labels across the web, the digital press can expand the printers’ portfolio to include oil, chemical and cosmetic labels. The company says this advantage enables additional applications beyond self-adhesive labels such as pouches and sachets. The Xeikon CX500 digital label press is a sustainable and food
safe solution.
Xeikon also has inkjet label presses, such as the PX30000 seven-colour UV Inkjet digital press, designed for durable label production with what the company says is the broadest colour gamut in the market. With longer runs, this cost effective press
is the answer for printers looking to substitute their older UV Flexo press with a digital option – no tools, no setup time, maximum efficiencies, maximum OEE. The extended colour gamut of CMYK + OVW enables the widest range of label applications in six or seven colours.
The Xeikon PX3300 is an entry- level UV Inkjet press, which Xeikon says addresses the demand for more durability, where a high gloss, tactile quality look and feel is required. It says thhe PX3300 provides cost effectiveness over the choice of
a toner press, as UV varnish and lamination can be avoided, making it cost-effective for those stepping into digital for the first time. 21
