With 600 exhibitors due to have been on the show floors of the Brussels Expo Centre at Labelexpo there was something for everyone. The show is off, but the technology is still here. Print21 highlights a top ten of the latest systems for label printers, all designed to enable you to do more with less.
PRESSES: MARK ANDY
Supplied in Australia and New Zealand by Aldus Tronics, Mark Andy has a digital hybrid press; Digital Series HD, and the manufacturer's latest launch Digital Series iQ, powered by Domino.
While Digital Series HD and Digital Series iQ are suited for different needs, both feature seamless integration with a complete set of end-to-end functionalities to help businesses grow. Both are inkjet digital hybrid presses capable of printing with extended color gamut, 6-color process, and opaque white at production speeds. In addition, both machines are designed with fast-change flexo features for top coating, lamination, foil stamping, and specialty color printing and product decoration. Finishing attributes include Mark Andy’s high- speed semi-rotary die cutting.
PRESSES: GALLUS
The Gallus Labelmaster is now being delivered with extensive new and optimised features. The company says the new operating concept ensures greater user convenience
for the machine operator, and less waste in the daily production.
The press now has a shorter machine length, as corona, web cleaning, transport and web tension are integrated in the new winding units, which means that one module
can be saved. The compact design enables reduced waste, thanks to a machine length that is up to 3.3 meters shorter.
Further features such as improved accessibility to the corona pre- treatment and web transport modules with a quick-change system for quick and easy cleaning have also been added. The winder can now be adjusted from the control panel, and there is a new trolley system.
PRESSES: OMET
Supplied in ANZ by Currie Group, Omet manufactures a range of flexo and hybrid print systems, with its XFlex range proving popular here. It has
not yet revealed whether it will use Labelexpo to launch a new press. Its hybrid press is the Omet XJet which it says merges all the advantages of the two printing technologies in one single press. Omet says it significantly widens the range of printing opportunities,

The XFlex X7 press has been created with the target to merge
the best features of XFlex X6.0 and Varyflex V2 into a new printing press. It’s a 670mm mid web printing machine, which Omet
says is ideal for flexible packaging and shrink label printing, at the maximum level of quality, thanks to the technology of XFlex flexo unit, motorised printing pressure, and Multivision camera on each printing unit with on-the-fly pre-registration.
CONVERTING: ABG
Supplied in ANZ by Currie Group, A B Graphic (ABG) manufactures the Digicon series of converting units, and has now launched the next generation of its DigiLase 4.0 digital laser cutting machine, with new features specifically providing web-to-print (W2P) businesses with the means to upscale their output.
The new refinements include individual piece options and faster speeds, which, when combined
with state-of-the-art laser cutting technology, make the DigiLase 4.0, “unrivalled in guaranteeing consistent and accurate results”, according to ABG.
The addition of individual piece options will be of interest to W2P businesses looking to provide their customers with enhanced marketing.
