Looking ahead toward 2021, SCM sees similar challeng- es in the first half of the year, albeit with the added chal- lenge of finding additional skilled labour, however as the pandemic begins to reduce its effect on the economy, we forecast a normalised growth outlook for the remainder of 2021 and into 2022,” Levin explained.
Another first-time entrant is PMB Defence (No. 16 in the Top 20 SMEs and No. 8 in the ANZ SME list), a world leader in battery technology, most recognised for their work on submarines batteries at home and further abroad. The company also is in the process of building a brand-new facility at the Osborne maritime facility, twice the size of their previous site.
“For PMB, 2020 has seen many years of strategies and initiatives begin to take effect,” Stephen Faulkner, CEO of
PMB Defence said to ADM. “The acquisition of two busi- nesses focussed on traditional lead-acid and Nickel-Zinc technology respectively, has occurred in the same time frame that we are relocating our facility to a much more modern and higher capacity plant.
“The convergence of these activities whilst we manage operating through a pandemic and compete for the Austra- lian Future Submarine work has been challenging from a bandwidth perspective to say the least. Having said that, the we aim to be considered the world’s most credible sub- marine battery designer and supplier, and we are now in a unique position to achieve that goal.
“Our human capability has been grown significantly in all aspects of our business with this in mind. Now that much of the strategic work is behind us, 2021 will see us
