                 Better Workplaces
  Nine made the decision to sell its Willoughby site in 2015 because it was reaching end-of-life. The company required a new, modern building that would provide world-class facilities for diverse business needs and future-proof the growing Nine business for the next 60 years. This was the catalyst for the move to North Sydney.
This building was ultimately selected because of its central location in the North Sydney CBD; the opportunity for Nine to be the anchor tenant and create its own bespoke, creative spaces; as well as the premium-grade status of the building, which offers benchmarked, world-class facilities and a 5-Star Green Star rating.
The vision of CEO Hugh Marks was for the new Nine HQ at 1 Denison to be a single “creative campus” that would bring Sydney-based televi- sion, publishing, digital and corporate teams together under one roof for the very first time, promoting greater creativity and potential for collaboration across the whole business.
Nine’s overall goal was to create a better workplace for its people. The publishing teams had been in interim workspaces for a number of years, and television teams were working from Nine’s original location in Willoughby, which had sentimental and historic value in spades, but was no longer fit for purpose for a modern and diverse media company.
As the anchor tenant at 1 Denison, Nine had control over the design and fit-out of floors and workspaces, which are bespoke for each part of the business and include edit suites; voiceover booths; broadcast, photography and podcast studios; control rooms; broadcast and publishing news hubs based on industry best practice; and an exclusive cafe and terrace for the use of Nine employees as a flexible meeting and event space.
The new building at 1 Denison is premium-grade and was selected spe- cially to provide the best workplace experience. Building facilities include Nest (a dedicated space for fitness, physio, relaxation and events), fully equipped end-of-trip facilities, bike storage, concierge and close proximity to a range of retail, cafes and public transport networks.
