 class and to the RAN’s three Hobart- class Air Warfare Destroyers, and would inform future integration of AWD/TSD systems and operations into the wider surface fleet.
These comprised torpedo detection- classification-localisation – to identify, classify and track torpedo threats; soft- kill torpedo countermeasures – to con- fuse, distract and seduce a torpedo away from an intended target; and hard kill – to destroy or disable a torpedo threat, for example an anti-torpedo torpedo.
The notification said the RFI would focus on obtaining key strategic informa- tion, solutions and industry’s approach to achieving the technical requirements, but gave no scheduling details.
ADM Comment: The decision to up- grade the Anzacs’ ASW capability at this time is likely to have flowed from the de- cision to extend their service life as the Hunter-class future frigates are rolled out, with the last of the Anzacs now set to remain in commission until 2042-43.
JORN GAINS ISO55001 CERTIFICATION
 BAE Systems Australia’s Jindalee Operational Ra- dar Network (JORN) pro- gram has been formally awarded ISO 55001 Asset Management certification by international certifica- tion body TQCSI Yaran.
The certification recog- nises BAE Systems Aus- tralia’s ‘advanced capabil- ity in asset management, complex systems delivery and data exploitation.’

   The audit conducted by TQCSI as- sessed all aspects of the JORN program, including engagement with all remote ra- dar sites, the sounders and transponders maintenance team and the deeper level maintenance site, covering JORN sites across five states.
“The JORN team members should be
exceptionally proud of their efforts in achieving international recognition,” BAE Systems Australia Managing Director of Defence Delivery Andrew Gresham said. “This certification officially acknowledg- es our commitment to our role as capabil- ity steward for the Commonwealth on this vital sovereign security infrastructure.”
