   TRIMATT SHINES AT AUSPACK 2022
TRIMATT Systems, which took out the Australian Machinery Manufacturing Award – SME at the APPMA Awards of Excellence for its CardLine 7000, proudly showcased its new FoldLine 9000, BatchLine and Trimatt 1170 on-stand.
Matt Johnson, managing director at Trimatt, explains that the FoldLine 9000, which expertly feeds, folds and glues packaging sleeves used for food trays, has been designed with an extremely small footprint.
“Real estate in business has become problematic, so our machine provides the solution of being compact, at only five meters long,” he says, also explaining that the FoldLine 9000 can produce 20,000 glued folded sleeves per hour.
“It provides printers and packag- ing printers with the opportunity to add value to their press as they can actually finish a product, and it falls in line with our motto because we try and help businesses profit.”
Johnson says that the “versatile” system is ideal for FMCG, financial, retail, bindery and fulfilment, magnet, self-mailers, gift card and greeting card applications, and offers the finishing capabilities that “make printed products stand out in a crowded market”.
With a digital printer and Valid- Form variable data reader added, the FoldLine 9000 can also ensure an application is error-free by reading and collecting unique data from printed media, and monitoring in real-time the performance of the printed job, while checking for missing records, duplicates, mismatch and poor quality.
Waste reduction and increased output are significant features of the add-ons, and labelling machinery can also be added prior to validation for broader scope.
The Trimatt 1170, also on display on the stand, is an “all purpose” solution for digital colour printing with its integrated friction feeder, adjustable receiving tray and
vacuum conveyor.
Johnson
explains that it
has a print
speed of 27
meters per
minute, can
print on a wide
variety of
products and
thicknesses and is ideal for SME and short runs on paper packaging sleeves, boxes and bags for sustainable packaging print solutions.
He says the FI-1000 print engine, made by Hewlett Packard, uses an aqueous pigmented ink which makes vibrant prints that are both scratch resistant, water-proof and light fast.
“We OEM the HP print engine and then we build all of the product handling system around it to provide a turnkey solution. Technically we build everything except for the print engine.”
Another machine designed and manufactured by Trimatt, is the Cardline 7000, which, as men- tioned, received the Australian Machinery Manufacturing Award – SME at the APPMA Awards of Excellence.
CardLine is the solution for attaching and matching cards, booklets and vouchers to carriers, with CR80, PIO, SIM Cards, Gift cards, loyalty cards and others all able to be automated, to help improve efficiency and accuracy.
Johnson is thrilled about receiving the award and says the CardLine 7000 has been exported into several countries, including Taiwan, China and India.
“The team at Trimatt have all contributed to the success of the CardLine – it offers a new revenue option for print businesses. To have the judges single out the machine and give it the top award is superb,” he says.

Pacmatix MD Ettienne van Vuuren took us through the GSP equipment, aimed at the entry level and shorter volume markets, and Techno-pak solutions, aimed at high-volume work. Both flow wrappings systems are Italian-based.
A walk through the Rhima stand, hosted by CEO Mark Hollingsworth, revealed Rhima’s latest venture into robotics and its partnership with ABB for its robotic washing application.
Matt Nichol from Matthews Australasia took us on a tour of the CO2 laser coding technology, which allows a permanent, readable code to be applied to products without the use of inks or solvents. He also discussed the Solar Jet 100 Watt fibre laser at 2000 cans a minute, pointing out the benefits it brings to beverage manufac- turers, before highlighting the IDSnet packaging code management software system, which helps eliminate coding and labelling errors.
Moving on to the Result Group stand, we met with Michael Dossor, group general manager, who pro- vided an update on the latest linerless technology from Herma, which has brought a silicone-free solution to market. He also highlighted the partnership Result Group has with Ravenwood, and pointed out the launch of a new machine specifically targeted for the fresh produce sector, which he says, is opening up a whole new market segment in Australia.
Automation products manufac- turer SMC used its stand to highlight a threefold message on its strength in support, modernisation and
