Ifm’s Glenn Thornton, regional manager – Melbourne, was our tour guide on-stand, who demonstrated the full range of the company’s sens- ing technology, including those in safety, process technology and vision sensing.
Our visit to the Packserv stand, which centred around packaging machinery made easy and made local, was hosted by owner and MD Nathan Wardell who demonstrated, among a full range of equipment, its locally made single-head automatic fillers which were showcased on the stand. The fillers, which Wardell said had been receiving a lot of interest, are used for liquid, creams and pastes, as well as hot and cold products.
On the Lantech stand, we met with APAC GM, David Fullerton, who discussed the company’s 50-year milestone and its stretch wrapping prowess, and demonstrated Lantech’s automated pallet wrap, which he said creates efficiencies around the wrap- ping process and helps to make loads safe to ship and regularly receives a lot of interest at shows.
ABB launched two families of col- laborative robots at the show, where a highlight of the stand was the compa- ny’s safe move software for palletising robots, which provide a fenceless robotic system and are run on scan- ners to ensure the safety of workers. Peter Bradbury, channel manager, Robotics, provided a walk-through of ABB’s offerings, pointing out the IRB 300 family of robots as well as a mag- netic conveying system.
