and assisted its eight partners at the show, many of which had ABB robots on their stands.
MD Peter Gustafson showed us around the Australis Engineering stand, saying the company was “par- ticularly proud” to be displaying the Mech-Mind 3D Vision systems with artificial intelligence at the show. On display was the simPAL-3D robotic and Mini cobot palletisers in action, which demonstrated the machinery’s modular capabilities for palletising, as well as picking and placing.
He pointed out a highlight of the stand – the simPAL Mini, which features a collaborative Techman cobot, that can be programmed with its own on-board TM-Flow software to pick and place and occupies min- imal floor space. As demonstrated by Gustafson, its integrated vision system with SMP camera easily identifies bar codes and QR codes for product recognition.
INDUSTRY 4.0 AND MORE
Jeff Walker of SICK was on hand to talk with us about the company’s focus in helping its customers with their digital transformation, before providing a walk-through of the stand, set up to mimic a food manufacturing
kitchen. He then went on to discuss the levels of Industry 4.0 in sensor connectivity, visibility, transparency, predictive capacity an autonomous decision making.
We found MD Robert Becher on the INOX Australia stand, where he went through the INOX-designed and man- ufactured demo-chef cooking system set up to test cooking processes under atmospheric, vacuum and pressure conditions.
A visit to the Open IIoT stand revealed a wealth of Industry 4.0 and IIoT information (read more in Machinery Matters, page 6). Richard Roberts from ZI-Argus talked to us about Industry 4.0, highlighting how the Open IIoT network developed the connected solutions seen on stand. This included the newly-upgraded interactive demo unit and upgrades to the demo unit, including the addi- tion of Balluff’s Condition Monitoring Sensor as well as ZI Argus’ evolving elements. ■
