 WELCOME TO THE 54TH EDITION
EWEN LEVICK | MELBOURNE
WELCOME to the 54th edition of the Defence Industry Guide. Not long ago many companies in these pages were showcasing their capabilities at Land Forces 2021, the first major trade show held since the pan- demic began.
Over 700 companies attended an exhibition that, ac- cording to the organisers, was 30 per cent larger than the 2018 iteration. The ADM team was there as well (minus a few staff caught in the Melbourne lockdown) and had a great time meeting many of you face-to-face

and seeing first-hand the capabili- ties of Australian defence industry. Looking outwards, the tail- winds behind this industry have only strengthened since the last edition of this guide was pub- lished. Here at ADM, we continue to expand our offerings to make sure you have the information you need to navigate this growing industry and the wider strategic environment. Stay up to date with the companies in these pages through our magazine, website, podcast and more.

weight to Chinese power in Asia. Second, the Australian federal budget confirmed that the government sees Defence as its main tool in this wider strategic picture. Can- berra is now spending above two per cent of GDP on defence and is signalling that this will continue for the
foreseeable future.
Third, the push for true sovereign capability has
continued unabated. It is often said that the pandemic has demonstrated the need for reliable supply chains, and logically the most reliable are those that come from within Australia’s borders.
