Modine partners with data centre giant
THE MODINE MANUFACTURING Company has commenced full scale production of chillers for the data centre market at their new produc- tion facility in Rockbridge, Virginia.
At the same time the company confirmed a significant order with data centre giant, Corscale, with plans for further business in the coming months.
Airedale by Modine is Modine’s data centre cooling brand which is headquartered in the United Kingdom with facilities in Spain, Dubai, and the United States.
With Airedale by Modine cooling solutions set to be installed at Corscale’s Gainesville Crossing Data Campus, the company has secured a healthy pipeline for its OptiChill free-cooling chillers, AireWall fan walls & SmartCool ONE computer room air handling units.
“CORSCALE ENGINEERS HELPED DEVELOP THE CHILLER WHICH USES TWIN SCREW COMPRESSORS.”
Having worked closely with engineers from Corscale, Modine has developed a specialised data centre chiller based on their existing OptiChill range. The Corscale chiller, with enhanced free cooling offers a world-class energy efficient solution.
Prior to the commencement of site deliveries, the team from Corscale will be invited to a wit- ness test at Modine’s new state-of-the-art labo- ratories in Virginia.
The test centre is capable of testing a com- plete range of air conditioning equipment up to 2.2MW (expanding to 5MW in future for water-cooled chillers), the climate tempera- ture being fully controllable anywhere from 59°F to 126°F.
The new Corscale chiller operates using twin screw compressors, enhanced controls including fast-start, input power limiting and intelligent management of compressors, refrigerant and pumps, an on board variable speed pump to pre- cisely match cooling demand, and 100 per cent contained Glycol loop to isolate the economiser from the cooling loop and increase efficiency of the Airwall units.
There is also active harmonic filtration, ensur- ing a clean power supply to the data centre while saving on external plant requirements.
New ProSeries meets net zero goals
THE NEW HECOCLIMA ProSeries of air and water source heat pumps and chillers are using R290 (propane) to deliver exceptional performance.
The ProSeries includes ProChill, the propane chiller, 2Pro, a 2-pipe heat pump (reversible or not), and 4Pro, a 4-pipe multipurpose unit.
The Hecoclima ProSeries air and water source heat pumps are designed and built not only to meet net zero CO2 goals for green heat produc- tion but also deliver exceptional performance when needed most, at ambient extremes!
All employ four or six cylinder semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors with inverter capac- ity control and oil management and monitoring. Suction accumulators are included on all machines.
The chillers employ microchannel batteries, painted with epoxy powders, with very low inter- nal volume to minimise the refrigerant charge, which can be lowered by 40 per cent in some cases (R134a).
All coil blocks have optimised fin configura- tion to improve low ambient performance.
R290 delivers high performance.
