The CEO of Work Dynamics at JLL, Neil Mur- ray, said the companies share a collective vision to enable clients to manage their real estate more dynamically.
“Combining Envio’s best-in-class systems with JLL’s expertise, technology and global platform – along with our shared values around innova- tion and sustainability – will enable us to solve our clients’ problems better, faster, and more cost-effectively than anyone else in the industry,” Murray said.
Envio Systems
The Envio technology will form the founda- tional infrastructure of a differentiated platform for delivering intelligent and sustainable building solutions that disrupt current building operation models with more flexibility, speed, and optional- ity into how spaces are planned, managed, and serviced.
This acquisition will integrate with and enhance recent investments in technology-ena- bled service delivery – including Dynamic Occu- pancy Management and Dynamic Cleaning.
“Integrating the Envio team and technology with JLL’s robust Workplace Management capa- bilities will advance our commitment to enabling clients to shape their workplaces and their employees’ experiences to achieve more human- centric, more resilient, and more responsible real estate, and create a better world of work,” Murray said.
JLL is a leading professional services firm that specialises in real estate and investment man- agement.
to drive building analytics
JLL WILL ACQUIRE ENVIO SYSTEMS (ENVIO), A BERLIN- BASED TECHNOLOGY COMPANY THAT DELIVERS MORE EFFICIENT AND SUSTAINABLE BUILDING OPERATIONS BY INTELLIGENTLY INTEGRATING
DATA FROM BUILDING SYSTEMS AND PROVIDING PREDICTIVE ANALYTICS AND BUILDING AUTOMATION.
FOUNDED IN 2013 to accelerate sus- tainability outcomes in the built envi- ronment, Envio’s market-leading hard- ware and software enable access to and analysis of data from sensors and appli- cations across systems and functions (e.g. HVAC, lighting management, energy management) to facilitate predictive decision-making around utili-
ties and operations, health and comfort, and sus- tainability – regardless of existing installed equip- ment or technology, building size or age.
Work, the workforce, and the workplace have fundamentally changed as a result of the pan- demic with most employees working in a hybrid mode. They also expect to work in a company that supports their health and wellbeing.
Blue sky future for secure technology
JOHNSON CONTROLS HAS acquired zero trust cybersecurity provider, Tempered Net- works, the creator of Airwall technology.
The advanced self-defense system for build- ings enables secure network access across diverse groups of endpoint devices, edge gate- ways, cloud platforms and service technicians. It represents a step-change in operational technol- ogy built on secure transmission pipelines to ensure buildings data exchanges and service actions can only take place between people and devices that are continuously authenticated.
It will be integrated into JCI’s OpenBlue plat- form for smart buildings.
The acquisition gives Johnson Controls the capability to provide zero trust security within the fabric of its OpenBlue secure communica- tions stack, advancing its vision of enabling fully
autonomous buildings that are inherently resil- ient to cyberattack.
“When it comes to buildings, we must create easily implementable cybersecurity defenses as we’re often dealing with critical infrastructure, including assets such as data centres and hospi- tals,” according to Vijay Sankaran, vice president and chief technology officer, Johnson Controls.
“Tempered Networks Airwall approach is purpose-built for our sector as it’s designed around principles of zero trust, securing device communications as data moves between devices and the cloud – so enabling remote building opti- misation in the most trusted way possible.”
RIGHT: The new technology will be integrated into JCI’s OpenBlue platform.
OpenBlue provides a flexible computing approach for converging building technologies and making those technologies more insightful, powerful, and optimised through edge AI and through full machine learning in the cloud.
The ultimate goal is to make all buildings smarter, healthier and more sustainable.
