LAMSON PARAGON SWITCHES TO RICOH PRO C9210
Trade print and mailing house Lamson Paragon has just installed its second Ricoh Pro C9210 digital colour print system, the new printer going in only six months after the company put in its first, which marked a major switch for the business.
Rodney Frost, CEO, said, “Earlier in the year we had
the opportunity to look at all
the options on the market, we undertook thorough analysis and testing, and the Ricoh Pro C9210 came out as the best machine for our needs. It was the best fit; the quality of print, the engineering were outstanding.
“We made the move and ordered the Ricoh, and since then the performance has been terrific, with minimal servicing.
“Now as we needed to replace our second digital colour printer the performance of the first made it an easy decision, we even asked the operators, who were all keen on another Pro C9210.”
Both machines have gone into the Sefton facility, where they are working hard, Frost says, “The Pro C9210 is built like a tank, it performs well day in day out. We operate in a robust production environment, the Ricohs are doing a great job.”

Brent McCulloch, IVE Group chief operations officer, Data-Driven Communications, said, “Some of our printing infrastructure was reaching end of life, and so it gave us an opportunity to see what alternatives there were in the market.”
Before signing the new agreement with Ricoh, the IVE Group team undertook a detailed, three-step process. The first step involved issuing invitations to tender to seven print vendors.
IVE Group had initially planned to conduct week-long, high-volume print runs at three different vendor’s facilities, however, Covid-19 restrictions on travel meant this was unable to proceed.
McCulloch said, “As an alternative, we gave vendors
the opportunity to install their proposed equipment at an IVE production facility for a four-week proof-of-concept test. This was
to allow IVE to gain first-hand experience with how the equipment and vendors would perform in a simulated production environment.
“The third phase involved vendor capability presentations and final commercial submissions at the end of December,” he added “At that point, we selected Ricoh as our new preferred technology partner.”
McCulloch explained that this rigorous process was necessary
New partnership: Yasu Takahashi, managing director, Ricoh Australia, with Rodney Frost, CEO, Lamson Paragon, and one of the new Ricoh Pro C9210 digital colour print systems
years,” he said. “We made the change because Ricoh was able to clearly show it was the vendor most capable of meeting the production requirements of Australia's largest commercial printer.”
The process resulted in the installation of six Ricoh Pro C9210 digital colour production presses, and two Pro C7210X digital five- colour production presses (and associated equipment), each driven with EFI Fiery colour controllers.
McCulloch said, “We found that the Ricoh printers gave us great quality and print registration.”
