  Multifunctional flow meter for gases
THE NEW FLEXIFLOW by Bronkhorst com- bines the advantages of a unique through- chip-sensor with proven by-pass technology.
The compact thermal mass flow meters and controllers are 35 per cent smaller than tradi- tional instruments, the smallest on the market for flow ranges up to 20 ln/min. Due to the new sensor technique, the instruments feature very stable flow control, but also very fast control, with settling times smaller than 150 ms.
FlexiFlow instruments have integrated tem- perature and pressure sensors and an on- board gas database for highest accuracy, even at varying process conditions.
With this new technology, the instruments are adaptable to many applications through their wide dynamic flow ranges (up to 1:1000).
The temperature and pressure signals may provide the user with information about the actual process conditions.
In fact, FlexiFlow is more than just a flow meter or controller; it is a multi-parameter measurement/control device.
For easy setup and monitoring of the in- struments and your process, Bronkhorst in- troduces a USB-C port, optional Bluetooth communication, and NAMUR status indica- tion by means of coloured LEDs and digital output parameters.
It is available in two pre-configured models, as a built-to-order version, or as a customised, multi-channel solution, each including free and easy software tools for configuration, and for diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

New design offers more configurations, less noise
JOHNSON CONTROLS HAS released the lat- est evolution to the YORK YVAA variable speed drive screw chiller for the entire global product line.
The award-winning chiller now features in- creased operating efficiency, a reduced footprint and integration with low-GWP refrigerants.
The chiller also offers more flexibility with ex- panded configuration options at each cooling capacity along with a reduction in sound levels.
Installed widely around the globe, the YORK YVAA variable speed drive screw chiller features a

patented, liquid-cooled variable speed drive that is designed to improve reliability and performance with a customisable, highly optimised design.
The YVAA chiller is highlighted by advanced technologies including series flow evaporators, microchannel condenser coils and EC fans to cre- ate higher levels of full and part load efficiency.
With optional Quick Start technology and lower requirements for maintenance (with glycol replace- ment only required every five years), the YVAA air- cooled screw chiller offers solutions for mission
critical applications in harsh environments. With more than 22,000 units installed global- ly, the YVAA VSD screw chiller has excelled in a
variety of applications.
It produces 15 to 25 per cent annual savings,
IPLV as high as 21.3 EER and up to 0.25 kW/TR reduction in energy use when replacing exist- ing chillers.
After power is interrupted, it can take a stand- ard chiller up to 10 minutes to restart. But with the Quick Start feature, YVAA chillers can restart within seconds after power is restored. YVAA chillers feature an industry-leading compressor restart (upon power being restored) of 34 seconds.
Because YVAA chillers contain a variable-speed drive, there is no inrush of current. As a result, all compressors can be started together. This allows a faster ramp-up to full capacity than possible with a typical chiller.
The variable-speed design dramatically re- duces sound levels at off-design conditions, up to 16 dBA. The 100 per cent liquid-cooled VSD is standard on the YVAA.
The YVAA also incorporates advanced, pat- ented variable volume index (VI) technology in a proven design. It optimises the compression ra- tio of the compressor to match the conditions between the evaporator and condenser.
This optimised compression ratio prevents over-compression to minimise energy consump- tion. Every compressor is run-tested at the end of the production line to ensure reliable operation.
