  DEFENCE IN THE NT
The Northern Territory and northern Australia are strategically important to the defence of Australia and to sup- porting the ADF operations in the re- gion.
The Northern Territory is home to 10% of Australia’s permanent Defence Force personnel, across all services. The Northern Territory boasts:
• 70 per cent of Australia’s Abrams Main
Battle Tanks
• 77 per cent of Australia’s Tiger Armed
Reconnaissance Helicopters
• 70 per cent of Australia’s Armidale
Class Patrol Boats
• A squadron of FA18 Hornet fighters.
Defence recurrent expenditure in the Northern Territory is more than $1 bil- lion per year, equivalent to 7.9% of the Territory’s state final demand and 6.1% of the total Australian Defence expendi- ture.

DEFENCE IN VICTORIA
Victoria sees $8 billion of defence spending annually, with 20,000 people working across roughly 400 Defence companies. With a focus on vehicles and manufacturing, Victo- ria has a vibrant defence community from universities, Primes and SMEs along with uniformed and APS per- sonnel.
The Victorian Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions is responsible for defence industry investment support and trade facilitation. It promotes Vic- torian defence capabilities to the Com- monwealth, Australian and internation- al prime contractors and the broader market.

DEFENCE IN NSW
There are more uniformed and civilian Defence personnel based in New South Wales than any other Australian State or Territory. NSW is home to over 80 De- fence sites across all three services with capabilities in acquisition, sustainment, training, ICT, cyber, space, ISR, and a broad range of Primes and SMEs in these domains.
