THE ENGINEERING STUDENT
The session has started. I open Zoom and my
lecturer’s voice fractures the silence of my room Class for one again today.
I sit, staring, scribbling, screaming
As the cruel calculus heckles me from its glass chalkboard.
I peel my thighs from the seat and stretch my aching spine.
This is the function of my future, Which I must decipher with only pen, paper,
and persistence. Despite the fatigue,
The session is still ongoing
