Without turning to look at him, she
spoke in a soggy voice, “I’m not
allowed to see my friends and I
haven’t seen my grandparents in
two whole years! (Well, it’s been
two weeks, but it feels like years)
It’s sooo boring, it’s not fair! No one
will play with me. Everyone is acting
weird. Why do mum and dad keep
pretending they like exercising? And
that they don’t even know what a

“I’m sorry, what I meant to say was,

Uncle Terry, boasting about the
new beer ‘n’ barbeque shack and
the Wembley stripes he was making
in the garden. “Maybe we could
play ball together instead?”
